We love celebrating little milestones in our relationship so David planned a dinner date at Home Restaurant to mark the 4th anniversary of our engagement. I instantly loved the restored colonial residence that houses the restaurant, and the food was even better than the decor.

We loved Home so much we went back twice during our week in Hanoi, sitting outside on their patio both times, which is a cheerful spot with sunny yellow walls and a clatter of colorful lanterns hung overhead. We couldn’t get enough of their crispy spring rolls, green mango salad, grilled salt and pepper squid and their traditional char-grilled “chả cá” which is cooked on a portable stove at your table. I’m a big fan of Vietnamese desserts and their deep-fried bananas with young sticky rice and carmelized pineapple with rock sugar were my favorite desserts in all of Vietnam.

You can find my full write up on our visit to Hanoi here, and see our other favorite restaurants here and here. And for more on our Journey through Vietnam and around the world be sure to subscribe here.

xx, SF
