All Eyes on Mehry Mu

Stacie Flinner Mehry Mu Handbags-16

I hope you all had wonderful weekends! A photo of our picnic in the Presidio yesterday has been creating quite a stir on my Instagram Stories, so I wanted to tell you more about the beautiful bag I was carrying by a new favorite designer – Mehry Mu!

Mehry Mu is an Istanbul-based brand best known for playful versions of a classic box bag called “The Fey” – rendered in textural finishes such as rattan, velvet, and suede, and featuring a signature scalloped clasp. Güneş Mutlu, the founder and creative director of the brand, was born in Turkey but spent much of her youth in Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Much like Turkey as a country, her designs are the perfect combination of east-meets-west aesthetics. We connected in June and I was thrilled to receive one of her gorgeous Fey bags (I have the “mini-Fey”) just in time to show it around her former home state of Connecticut. I love supporting female-lead brands and emerging designers, and even though Mehry Mu bags are carried in all the best stores in London, I feel like the brand is still relatively new to the US. (Luckily, Americans can easily access Mehry Mu’s collection via FarFetch.com.)

Turkey was a top destination on our world trip, but due to a temporary visa ban we weren’t able to visit. I’ve loved following Güneş on Instagram and seeing Istanbul and the world through her lens. Hopefully we can visit Istanbul for the first time and meet the beauty behind this special brand someday soon!

These photos were taken in the picture perfect peninsula of Stonington, Connecticut. Called a “little piece of Nantucket that drifted to the Connecticut shore” this historic seaside town couldn’t be cuter and I definitely recommend stopping through if you’re driving the Connecticut coast. We loved the lobster rolls, local brews, and marina views at Dog Watch Cafe and I would have happily scooped up everything at Grand and Water Antiques if we had a bigger car to cart things home!

xx, SF

Thank you Mehry Mu for sponsoring this post!
