Sweethearts in Sausalito

Stacie Flinner Red Fleece-4.jpg

After 5 years of marriage this guys still knows how to sweep me off my feet. (And then pretends to throw me into the Bay – ha!) When Brooks Brothers asked us to try out pieces from their Red Fleece Collection for Valentine’s Day, it was the perfect excuse to jump in the convertible and drive over the bridge to a favorite date night spot, Sausalito. From the plethora of clapboard houses that remind us of Nantucket to the gorgeous bay views, there are so many reasons to love this tiny town. If you have a chance to visit, we are currently addicted to the tacos and 24-hour carnitas at Copita, breakfast at Fred’s, and the unassuming French spot, La Garage.

If you’ve been following me for a while you know how much I love Brooks Brothers, and their Red Fleece collection in particular (last seen here, here, and here). Brooks Brother’s just celebrated their 200th Anniversary and their slightly more youthful Red Fleece Collection has the same timeless appeal with slightly slimmer cuts and a (much!) more affordable price tag. For our date to Sausalito I picked items in reds and pinks, but combined them in a way that could be worn for dates far into spring, when you’re wishing for blue skies and flowers but mother nature hasn’t quite caught up yet. We joke that David only wears very casual looks or black tie (nothing in between!) but this sport coat reminded me how great he looks in a jacket and tie. I’m usually a bit more dressed up and loved the vintage swing coat vibes of this pink number. The faux-fur collar is detachable which means I’ll be able to pair it with shorter floral dresses as spring unfolds. This cable knit cashmere sweater is the softest cashmere I own and a year-round wardrobe staple. I know I’ll be buying it in other colors like red, blue or camel for spring and summer. While the women’s clothing from Red Fleece runs true to size, the men’s styles seem to be cut quite slim, so I recommend sizing up to find the right fit.
