We were very lucky to snap up last minute tickets to visit Antelope Canyon within 48 hours of our tour time (it’s available to tour by appointment only). I’ll include more details in my full blog post on our Arizona road trip, but 11:30am is the best time to visit because rays of sunlight stream through the top of the canyon, creating pools of light on the canyon floor and it’s really beautiful. It’s an easy walk through the canyon so no special attire is required, and I just kept it classic with high waisted shorts (last seen here), a cozy sweater and my favorite cap toe ballet flats!
I’m a little late for #NationalStripesDay (perhaps my favorite made up holiday), but thankfully blue and white stripes never go out of style. I like layering striped pieces in the same color scheme but opposite patterns, making this closet staple feel new again. This striped t-dress (erroneously categorized as a beach coverup by J.Crew in my opinion) pairs perfectly with this sweater from Kiel James Patrick. This is my first time purchasing a piece from KJP.com and love the cut and quality of the sweater – plus it’s made in America! I know this dress, this sweater , this basket bag, and these ballet flats are all coming along on every weekend getaway this summer!
David and I have been on a road trip through the Southwest for the past week, and a visit to Horseshoe Bend in Arizona was at the top of my list. It’s not a hard hike to reach the canyon, and I was excited to wear my new “flying carpet” loafers from Artemis Design Co. David has had his for a month (remember how handsome he looked in his loafers and black tie here) while I went back and forth on which pattern I liked best as each pair is made from a vintage Turkish carpet and completely unique! I’d recommend doing the sizing exercise on their website, as the shoes are supposed to stretch and both David and I had to order one size down. (I’m wearing the Havana Smoking Shoe in a Size 37 – my normal shoe size is a US 8.) If you find a pair you love be sure to snap them up quickly as each shoe is one of a kind, and from now until April 30th, get $15 off any pair with code “FRIENDOFSTACIE”.

Today marks the launch of Julia Engel‘s fabulous line of dresses under the label Gal Meets Glam Collection. I love this timeless cotton sundress in blue and white stripe and you can find the full review and blog post here.

From my Instastory: I really love these Dragon Diffusion Woven Flats from J.Crew, and have been wearing them every day since they arrived in the mail last week. Today (Friday) they are an additional 40% off making them only $70.20 if you use code “Take2030”. They are so flattering and comfortable. They run a little small, and I recommend sizing up one size. (For reference I’m a US Size 8/EU38 and the EU 39 fits perfectly. I bought the white with a navy cap toe, and they also come in a red version and black version. (We are still on our way to Scottsdale, so please forgive me for posting this silly photo of my feet on the dash!)
Packed up our car and so excited for the first of many All-American Road trips this summer! I surprised David with a cute vintage cooler full of road trip provisions, including a classic Stanley Thermos, red camp mugs, a plaid car blanket and tons of snacks for the road!
Last weekend I went wine tasting in Sonoma for a friend’s 30th birthday. The dress code in wine country is pretty casual, but I generally like to wear a dress with either espadrille wedges or block heels for navigating gravel walkways or walks through the vineyards. This cheerful kelly green gingham dress by August Morgan is perfect for Sonoma. It’s is made of the softest Japanese Cotton, with nice details like a full cotton lining in the body of the dress, a tie waist, and patch pockets on the hip. This photo was taken at the end of the day and I was so impressed with how little it wrinkled. I hope August Morgan’s founder, Kate, makes this dress in more colors and patterns it’s just that good!
I love that most hotels in Palm Springs offer complimentary bike rentals and we couldn’t resist taking an early morning ride through the neighborhood last weekend. I’ve been carrying this crossbody capsule bag from Paravel everywhere because it’s just big enough for all the essentials (sunglasses, phone, small wallet and lipgloss) and is made of practically indestructible canvas. (See videos of them squirting condiments on the canvas and wiping it clean here!) Which makes it the perfect bag for bike rides to and from brunch.
The moment I saw this satin gown from new-to-me brand Mestiza NY I knew it would be perfect for an upcoming black tie wedding in Palm Springs. The fabric, cut and embellished details are all spot-on and incredibly flattering. Mestiza’s mission is to offer elevated yet reasonably priced couture-like dresses, drawing on inspiration from their shared Filipino-American heritage and vintage photographs of their mothers and grandmothers in the Philippines in the 1960s. I seriously cannot get enough of their beautiful collection – which you can see here. Use code “FRIENDSOFSTACIE15” to get 15% off on mestizanewyork.com now through 4/30. (My dress is almost sold out on their site, but you can find (almost) all sizes here, and a pale pink version here.) xx SF
I have long admired Sail to Sable’s classic American resortwear and was thrilled to get my first tunic in time for our trip to Palm Springs. The medium weight linen feels amazing in 90 degree temperatures and keeps it shape nicely. The body is cut “just so” to be really flattering on all body types.
I discovered Rocio UK’s beautiful collection of wooden handbags while in the UK before Christmas. Their ladylike designs are made entirely of lacquered wood in a range of gorgeous colors and classic silhouettes that pair perfectly with spring and summer dresses.
This yellow dress was one of my favorite fashion finds of the trip. It’s from a South African store called Poetry, which is similar to an Anthropologie. While the dress is sold out, I’ve linked to similar styles below and recommend checking out their stores if you are planning a trip to South Africa!
