This may be my longest blog post ever as Barbados was so beautiful I couldn’t stop snapping pictures! It was a dream visiting for the first time and specifically staying at Cobblers Cove on the Western shore, as David and I first started discussing this trip in early 2020 and our plans were delayed due to the pandemic. But it was well worth the wait!
Cobblers Cove‘s property centers on a waterfront 1940’s mansion. The cheerful pink walls and warmth of the staff made this a wonderful retreat for a low key week in the Caribbean. Even in the summer, the temperatures didn’t break 90 degrees during our stay which was perfect for playing in the water, lounging under the hotel’s signature pink umbrellas or sipping a martini as the sun dipped below the horizon. I must say, spring for a waterfront room, which has a broad terrace and the comfiest rattan chairs perfect for whiling away an afternoon (or taking a nap!)
This property first caught my eye when they did a redesign in partnership with one of my favorite textile companies – Soane London. The cheery pink, green and blue cotton fabrics come together with tropical touches for a wonderful, retro vibe. All beaches in Barbados are public, but the one at Cobblers is quiet and mostly enjoyed by other hotel guests – the fine, super soft sand and warm water makes it irresistible. After a couple of hours of swimming I’d often be hungry, and loved their daily afternoon tea which included hot tea, finger sandwiches and the most delicious coconut macaroons.
A few favorites from our stay:
GP Bistro – This recently redesigned chic chic chic cliffside restaurant was a 10 from top to bottom, with gorgeous Italian food, stunning views, live music and fun people watching. We could see 5′ long tarpin swimming in the water below our table – truly an unmissable spot!
The Fish Pot – A cozy beachfront restaurant set in a historic 1800s fort it’s just a short 6 minute drive from our hotel.
Baia – Perched on the water and serving refreshing Peruvian dishes this spot is a must for a delightful lunch in Speightstown.
The restaurant at Cobblers – We had most of our breakfasts and three dinners here at their charming waterfront terrace and it was such a relaxing spot to watch the sunset. Just off the pool area, it feels intimate and evocative of a bygone era. For breakfasts I loved ordering an omelette and side of flying fish (a local delicacy!) and dinners began with a perfect dry gin martini and ended with a sweet treat. The food isn’t the best on the island but it’s a solid option and extra fun when they host live music (on Tuesday and Saturday nights!)
St. Nicholas Abbey – A former sugar plantation and one of the best examples of Jacobean architecture in the western hemisphere. The interiors available to view are limited but still worthwhile. I also wanted to visit Clifton Hall Great House, but it was booked solid with private events while we were there – must be marvelous!
Highland Pottery – Cobblers had several pieces of this whimsical pottery in each of their rooms, and while the road up the mountain to the studio is a wild ride, it’s a lovely view a the top.
A boat ride with Bradley – Bradley’s water sports shop is a the edge of Cobbler’s property and an hour cruising the coastline just can’t be beat!

Just found your blog and I love it! Was thrilled to see this post as we just had our first visit to Cobbler’s Cove in June and it was amazing. We’ve already booked for next year! So beautiful and relaxing and you’re so right the interiors are TDF. Thank you for the beautiful photos, it brings it all back! xx
