September Musings

Happy September! Sharing a five random things that are on my mind for the month ahead!

Excited for fall travel – We spent most of the summer at home and its been my favorite summer in recent memory. Now we’re looking forward to a lot of travel in the coming months to take in fall color and celebrate big moments with friends! We’re excited to spend time in England, Ireland (tips welcome!), Philadelphia, DC, and all over New England. I’m putting together a post on my favorite places to visit in the fall (will share later this week!), and if you are planning a foliage trip to the northeast this folliage tracker is really helpful. It’s obviously a best guess projection, but has helped us plan trips in years past!

These jeans – I’ve been living in white jeans all summer and needed a few blue denim pairs for fall. This medium blue pair by Mother (pictured in this post) was the first to arrive and is an instant hit. Super soft and stretchy, they’re very comfortable for all day wear, and I love the medium blue color which looks great with autumnal tones from camel to burgundy to olive green. They hit in a nice spot above the ankle which works well with loafers, and the pocket placement/detail makes your bum look great! (I got my normal size.) Love pairing them with this camel cardigan and these light colored tweed loafers which are such a great transitional shoe!

Getting back in the healthy groove – Right now it feels like so many of my friends are pregnant, trying, or working through health concerns so I’ve been thinking a lot about getting back to optimizing my own health after having a baby. (My normal health routines have definitely been on the back burner since our little boy arrived!) I started yoga and pilates classes in August and it just feels so good to move. September always feels like a mid-year reset so we’re refocusing on maintaining healthy habits both so David and I feel our best! I just got back from having my labs drawn so I can see if anything needs work (especially curious about potential nutrient deficiencies from breastfeeding) its a great way to track changes in your numbers over time. I asked for these 17 different tests which are a very helpful baseline for overall health for everyone, but especially important if you’re TTC or postpartum! (Highly recommend following my friend @beingbrigid on Instagram for lots of healthy tips in your feed!) I think I’m going to start up the healthy close friends group again to hold myself accountable – though maybe I should start after our trip to England. 🙂

J.Crew’s new collection – Just dropped this morning this long tattersail barn coat instantly caught my eye! I wore last year’s version nonstop and I love the longer length for this year. Whether you go for the houndstooth or solid coat its bound to be a staple in the coming months.

Home projects – We’re starting a few home projects up for the fall/winter and top of my list include wallpapering our primary bedroom (we just have primer on the walls!) and refinishing our floors. I’ve been hoarding wallpaper samples and I just can’t get this one out of my head!

Great outfit! You look so comfortable yet chic. I, too, am really excited for fall travel and would love to see a post on your tips and essentials for longer flights.

Love the look! The shoes look bluer on you than on Tuckernuck. Is there only one color or maybe the one you got sold out? I love the blue tweed

    Hi!
I’ve followed you for years and am so excited to read any and all of your lodging recommendations when traveling with children.
We just traveled to Ireland this past May/June for our 6 year-old’s first international trip, and our favorite stay during the trip by far was at Gregans Castle Hotel in the Burren. I cannot recommend this place enough! Even though we were the only guests at the time with a kiddo, they made us feel so very welcome and they treated our son like royalty! Our son did not want to leave, and neither did we.

When you visit Philadelphia, hope you have a chance to visit the Main Line suburbs, such as Gladwyne, Bryn Mawr, and Villanova. There you’ll see beautiful rolling hills and classic stone houses.
