My Favorite Coffee Table Books for Travel Inspiration

Best Coffee Table Books

I have a major coffee table book addiction, so in part two of a long list of favorites (see part one here) I’m organizing my recommendations into categories starting with travel. I’m heading back to Europe next week and travel is on my mind so here are ten of my favorite coffee table books to inspire your next tip, fuel your wanderlust, or decorate your home so every day feels like a vacation. What are your favorite coffee table books?! I am always on the hunt for new titles to add to my collection. xx, SF

  1. Soirees, Soujourns and Stories – I will never forget the first time I visited a Raffles Hotel for afternoon tea in Cambodia, and this nostalgic oversized book is an homage to the golden age of travel, filled with tales of intrigue and glamour, complete with whimsical illustrations by Luke Edward Hall. I am obsessed!
  2. The Stylish Life (Yachting) – Like flipping through a photo album of a glamorous aunt (most of the photos are candid) you can sail from Monte Carlo, Mykonos, and St. Barth through the pages of this book dedicated to the lavish yachting lifestyle.
  3. Slim Aaron’s: La Dolce Vita – A taste of the good life, La Dolce Vita is a tribute to Slim Aaron’s love affair with Italy and the next best thing to time travel. ( I also love the other books in this series: Once Upon a Time, A Place in the Sun, and Poolside)
  4. Island Hopping: Amanda Lindroth Design – With a client list of The Who’s who up and down the eastern seaboard, this book perfectly distills Lindroth’s glamorous yet laid back take on island living, merging colonial and island influences sure to inspire your home or next getaway.
  5. Lee – The Bouvier sisters will forever evoke feelings of Americans at play in the summertime and this book is filled with anecdotes and personal photographs from Lee Radziwill’s own collection, “Lee” is an intimate glimpse into the private life of a public figure, with a cover that feels as iconic as the book’s subject.
  6. The Art of Flying – Chronicling the evolution of the aviation industry from the mid-century to the present day, this tome covers everything from technological developments to the fabulous crew uniforms of yesteryear designed by Dior and Pucci. Get this as a gift for your guy, then devour the incredible imagery yourself.
  7. Chic Stays – Fuel your wanderlust as your favorite models, actors and writers wax poetic about their favorite escapes from Lisbon to Sri Lanka.
  8. Cabana Anthology – While not a travel book per se, every page in this gorgeous compilation of articles from Cabana magazine feels exotic, and will transport readers to fabulous destinations around the world.
  9. The New York Times 36 Hours USA & Canada – If you’re planning domestic adventures this summer this book will help you pick your destination and plan your itinerary. Plus, it’s bright cover will look amazing on your shelf. (Also check out their 36 Hours Europe)
  10. Beaches – This list wouldn’t be complete without including the playful areal photography of our favorite vacation destinations by artist du jour Gray Malin. Plus, if you love his work but can’t afford to buy a framed print, you can get the look by framing the pages of this book! (But don’t tell him I told you that!)
