All the clean beauty favorites I use for my everyday makeup!
Finally sharing a look inside my makeup bag! My makeup philosophy is that I should look like myself, but more flawless, sunkissed and awake (ha!) than I am naturally. I did a big revamp of my beauty products when we were trying to get pregnant, swapping out many of my go-to products with questionable ingredients for cleaner versions. Over the last 3 years I've honed in on clean beauty products that have much safer ingredients and are really effective. When picking products I look them up on EWG and the Yuka App to ensure I feel comfortable with the ingredients (both highlight potential irritants, carcinogens, or endocrine disruptors), and I'd encourage you to do the same when picking products you use everyday!
Below you'll find a list of my favorite makeup products that I use (almost) daily, in the order I apply them. Nothing earth shattering, but since I regularly get questions about my favorite makeup products I thought it was time to put them in a dedicated blog post.
You can purchase these products at many retailers, but a lot of my beauty essentials are on sale right now on Nordstrom!
Foundation - The reason I've taken so long to put this together is because I've been using up my stockpile of Beautycounter foundations that have been discontinued and didn't have a new foundation I loved - until now! I started using RMS Beauty's SunCoverup Super Tint Broad Spectrum SPF 50 6 weeks ago and it's amazing. Really nice medium coverage but still looks like your skin, a glowy finish, and efficient in that it includes SPF 50! One pump is a lot of product, so I try to only use half a pump, and start by applying it with clean fingers to the center of my face and feathering out the product at the edges of my face. I've been using the color "alabaster" but expect I'll want a warmer shade when summer comes around.
Blush - I have two favorite blushes, one that I apply with my fingers and one that I use with a fan brush, but love them both and they have very similar results. First up is my RMS Beauty Hydra Powder Blush in "sangria". It creates a dewy wash of color but you definitely need to apply with a brush, and I love using this fan brush to give the apples of my cheeks and bridge of my nose a warm flush of color. My other favorite is this Tata Harper creme blush in "spicy" which I apply with my fingers, perfect for when you're on the go!
Bronzer - My obsession with RMS Beauty started with their Redimension Bronzer. I use the color "beachwalk betty" and got the recommended fan brush to apply it and this combo is so good. The brush makes it impossible to mess up the application as it's really feathery, and blends the warm bronzy glow into your skin beautifully. (I just ordered these Westman Atelier bronzer drops to try as well - the ingredients and results look amazing! Stay tuned.)
Eyeliner - I don't replace my makeup as often as I should, as I've been using the same Beautycounter Color Outline Eye Pencil for 3+ years and it's been discontinued for at least a year. Oops! Just putting this down to say I often use a black eyeliner on the outer corner of my eyelids, and now I need to find a fabulous replacement. I'm all ears if you have one you love!
Eyeshadow - If I'm wearing eyeshadow it's usually a gold shimmery shade just in the inside corner of my eyes. I use the lightest shade in this Ilia eyeshadow palette in "warm nude" and apply with my pinky finger to the inside corner of my eyes.
Mascara - This Ilia Limitless Lash mascara has been my go-to for 4-ish years and I LOVE it. I start by curling my lashes a bit with this Shiseido eyelash curler which makes a huge difference in how alert and bright-eyed I look. I then apply the mascara and love that it is very buildable, so I can go light or heavier depending on the look I want. In contrast to my other products, I replace my mascara religiously every 3 months.
Lips - Lip products are tricky as even many clean beauty brands use ingredients I'd rather not use on my skin (or ingest!), so I usually just use this Ilia sheer lip balm or this to moisturize (yes really!). I have one red Shiseido lip gloss that I will use if I need more warmth in my face, but it's discontinued. If you have a lip gloss or lipstick that you love and think is quite clean I'd love to hear your recommendations in the comments below!
Makeup Remover - I've found that one key element to having a lovely complexion is washing off all of your makeup thoroughly at the end of the day. I used to double cleanse to ensure I was entirely makeup free, but I love using RMS Beauty's clean cleansing gel to get everything off in one easy step! My skin feels amazing after this cleaner - highly recommend adding to your routine!
