As autumn approaches I usually transition away from gossamer fabrics and etherial silhouettes and lean into richer texture and more structured pieces. But what about the beauty of a piece that suits both seasons? I just found this stunning dress on sale and though summer is coming to a close i’m not ready to store it away just yet. I’m a firm believer in developing a wardrobe that can carry you through your calendar and adapt to the changing demands of one’s schedule, so here’s how I think about transitioning a summery eyelet dress so I can enjoy it in throughout fall.
This phenomenal dress by Erdem (more sizes here) does a lot of the work for me, it takes a summery eyelet and adds structure through interesting gathers and a fitted bodice as well as a fall-appropriate longer hemline and general elegance that is well suited to both seasons. For late summer I paired it with a raffia handbag wrapped in a silk ribbon that hints at warm weather motifs (such as coral and dragonflies) as well as barely there metallic sandals. Come September I’ll be adding a leather belt at the waist in a rich autumnal hue, a darker toned handbag and will trade out strappy sandals for a more substantial heel – like these in croc embossed leather. Little details like a more autumnal lip color (this is what I’m wearing here) also help transition your look through the seasons. (Alternatively, if I was wearing this dress in springtime, I’d pick a softer pink gloss!)
A few more ways to wear eyelet throughout the fall:
- The sleeves on this dress makes it fall-friendly. Pair with these chic wedges in camel.
- The forest green hue of this dress immediately makes it a winner for September and beyond. I’d pair it with sand colored heels and a wicker clutch.
- If your dress is above the knee try popping on a longer tweedy blazer plus knee high riding boots or a sleek heeled boot.
- I love this chocolate silk top with an eyelet midi skirt. (Ooo, with these!)
- How about this buttery eyelet top tucked into cream wool trousers?
- This sleeveless pleated dress would look great with these pumps.

Hello Stacie,
I love your style. I was interested in the Mark Cross bag in ivory, but the link did not work.

Thank you Janet – and sorry about the link. I just updated the link. My bag is from a year or two ago, but they always make this shape in new colors and materials. This is the same style bag in all ivory leather, though it’s one size larger than what I’m holding. But I love buying at Olivela as you can get 20% off Mark Cross bags which is the best deal I’ve seen anywhere on these bags. ❤️ Hope that all helps!
Love this look so much! Thank you for the breakdown of how it can transition through the seasons! <3
