Two weeks ago, while Storm Jonas was sweeping up the East Coast, our friends suggested seeking out a snow day of our own. So, early that Saturday morning we piled into two SUVs stocked with blankets, cookies, and the most delicious hot chocolate and drove to the mountains in search of some snow.
Whatever hype you’ve heard about Yosemite’s beauty…it’s true. And then some. The park is only a 3 hour drive from San Francisco, and it’s a shame that we don’t get up here more often. Many of Yosemite’s roads are closed in the winter, but they keep the main loop open so guests can take in iconic views of El Capitan, Bridal Veil Falls and Half Dome. Touring all of the sights could easily be completed in an hour and a half but we wanted to linger and enjoy Yosemite’s beauty as long as possible. We didn’t have an agenda so we stopped at little turn-outs along the road to take pictures, search for trout in the rivers and wander through the trees.
My favorite way to enjoy the mountains is on skis, but my second favorite is enjoying an après ski drink! So, when we reached Tunnel View lookout (one of the best views of Yosemite Valley) we backed one SUV up to the edge and set up a little cookie and cocoa station in the back of the vehicle. It was the perfect way to enjoy the view… warm beverage in hand.

Such a fun day trip and your outfit is too perfect!! I always thought I would prefer to visit Yosemite in the spring/summer, but it’s breathtaking in the winter as well!
