15 of September’s Best Dresses
As the air feels crisp and the first trees begin to turn, there’s nothing more fitting than slipping into a beautiful autumnal dress. September marks the start of rich textures, cozy layers, and moody hues, and I’ve gathered 15 stunning dresses that perfectly capture the spirit of the season. Whether you’re looking for something romantic for an evening out, a chic option for the office, or an effortless piece for weekend strolls, these styles will have you stepping into fall with ease and elegance.
- My wrap silk dress is such a chic take on a classic style. The waist ties at the low hip for a lovely drape and the assymetric skirt flutters beautifully as you walk. I had a hard time choosing between the green and the ivory versions but since it's silk the green pattern won out for practicality. I feel like a million bucks in this dress and you will too! (They also make a gorgeous matching top and skirt if you want the versatility of separates.) I paired the dress with my favorite gold sandals (on sale for one more day!) to up the groovy factor, but you could wear with pumps to make the look office appropriate.
- This cream dress works now through spring due to it's fabulous nubby texture. A great dress for work or a city getaway!
- My first ever Hill House dress has a few sizes back in stock! (Seen here - I'm wear an XS.)
- This ruby red embroidered dress is beautiful, and a nice price. Works for church, parties, etc!
- This ombré knit dress is uber-flattering and so comfortable. Perfect with flats, heels or pointy toe boots! (This dress has a similar vibe but is 1/4 the price.)
- Long live corduroy! This easy olive shirtdress looks fab with heeled brown leather boots (I've had these for 6 years.) Wear with it's self belt or swap for a western belt .
- J.Crew dropped their new fall collection today and there are so many gems. This foulard print maxi dress immediately caught my eye.
- Creative ruching is a great way to cut a beautiful figure, and this brown dress hugs your curves in all the right places. Same goes for this ochre-colored dress, that's a silk jersey in a fun pattern. (It almost looks like sequins from a distance.)
- Extra cozy scarf details are debuting on all sorts of garments this season, and I love this turtleneck sweater dress, which has a removable scarf and gives you multiple styling options with one garment. Wear with the scarf as-is, with this thin belt, or remove the scarf and sling this tassel belt around your waist.
- Every woman should have a cozy sweater dress like this in their wardrobe. It looks amazing with knee high boots and a long wool coat, but feels like you're wearing pajamas. I'd style with a long pendant necklace.
- This floral print works year-round, and I love the unexpected brown and blue combo.
- I bought this silk halter dress for date nights and it's gorgeous. If you prefer a mini this dress is super cute but I'd tie the sash in the front.
- A simple silhouette and beautiful berry-hued floral make this dress an easy yes. (Especially nice if you want something autumnal, but you live in a warm climate!) Seen here.
- This shift dress is a brilliant four season staple. Wear with a slim cashmere turtleneck, these black boots and tights for a cozy yet mod look in autumn/winter, then enjoy on it's own with cute black flats and a black straw tote in summer!
