A Dog-Friendly Getaway to Woodstock, Vermont

This post is in partnership with The Woodstock Inn.

Vermont in the fall is always magical, even more so when you can bring man’s best friend along for the ride! We’ve stayed at The Woodstock Inn in Woodstock, Vermont several times as a couple and with friends and this was our first experience bringing our puppy Darcy and it was such a wonderful weekend! The Woodstock Inn has a wing of dog-friendly rooms on the ground floor that makes bringing your dog super easy. We had incredible weather and were able to take advantage of several outdoor cafes so Darcy could join us a successful first getaway with our girl!

Mon Vert Cafe – This organic cafe is located in the heart of Woodstock and insanely delicious. Dogs are allowed on the patio and we ate here twice because I couldn’t get enough of their The Coffeehouse Brisket Sandwich and chai lattes

The Village Butcher – Just around the corner from our hotel, this local butcher has a wonderful sandwich counter and market perfect for packing a picnic. They have a few tables out front where you can enjoy your meal with your puppy.

Ransom Tavern – Just an 8 minute drive from Woodstock’s Village Green, Ransom Tavern is the spot for Neapolitan style pizza. We ordered takeout to enjoy back in our hotel room and everything was so delicious! (Dogs aren’t allowed.)

Woodstock Scoops – a casual ice cream shop in the center of town famous for their maple syrup creme – Vermont’s version of soft serve made with vermont maple syrup – is not to be missed!

The Red Rooster – One of the most special aspects of the Woodstock Inn, is that they source most of their ingredients from their own organic farm. The Red Rooster is a casual chic spot for dinner on the property and we love coming here for breakfast and dinner! You can also explore the farm just a few minutes from the hotel to see whats in season for yourself!

Falconry – The Woodstock Inn has a partnership with New England Falconry offering introductions to “the sport of kings”. Professional falconers introduce you to this ancient pastime while walking through the hills of Vermont. I thought it would be cool, but I didnt realize how absolutely incredible it would be to see these beautiful creatures up close.

Simon Pearce – We have Simon Pearce glassware and it’s fun to visit their flagship store in Queechee, Vermont. You can observe glassblowers at work on the lower level, as well as enjoy a beautiful meal at the restaurant (tables are set with their own pieces) and pick up treasures for your own home in their expansive store. The flagship is in a historic mill house right on a river – such a beautiful setting!

The Woodstock Spa – This was my first time experiencing The Woodstock Inn’s fabulous spa and let me just say it is INCREDIBLE. I booked in for a prenatal massage and it was one of the best massages of my life. I also loved the peaceful waiting room which was filled with sunshine and pretty views of the changing leaves outside.

Shopping in town – There are a handful of fabulous shops in Woodstock and a few of my favorites include Woody’s Mercantile (decor), RT Home (decor), and FH Gillingham & Sons (general store).
