My Barbour Style Guide: Four Fall Getaway Looks from Tuckernuck

This post is in partnership with Tuckernuck.

One of the many reasons I love Tuckernuck is that it's such an incredible one-stop shop for dressing from head to toe. It's always a treat to share pieces from their thoughtfully curated collection, and today I'm especially excited to highlight their wonderful assortment from one of my other favorite brands, Barbour!

I packed my bags for a long weekend in Woodstock, Vermont, just as the fall foliage was reaching its peak. Think afternoons spent shopping around town, walks beneath the most vibrantly colored trees, cozy dinners by the fire at Richardson's Tavern, and plenty of time enjoying the Woodstock Inn's iconic sprawling lawn. I brought along four head-to-toe looks from Tuckernuck, each featuring a favorite Barbour piece that feels just right for autumn in New England. Scroll down for everything I packed, along with my favorite styling tips, fit notes, and a few pieces I know I'll be reaching for for years to come.

SHOPPING LIST:

Look One: The Classic Barbour Beadnell Wax Jacket

The Barbour Beadnell wax jacket is often the gateway to a lifelong love of Barbour outerwear, and for good reason! First introduced in 2010, the Beadnell was designed as a more feminine take on Barbour's iconic Bedale jacket, which dates back to 1980 and was originally created for horseback riding. Its length, hitting just below the hip, is so flattering, while the roomy patch pockets hold everything from sunglasses and phones to dog treats. (My pockets are always full of acorns my son insists on collecting during our walks.) The waxed cotton keeps you dry when the weather turns, and I adore the little flashes of tartan that peek out when you turn up the cuffs or flip the collar. Every woman needs one of these jackets in her wardrobe. I promise you'll reach for it constantly!

I love this navy version, though I've owned an olive Beadnell for at least eight years, and it only gets better with age. These jackets are meant to be worn and enjoyed for decades, and the beautiful patina they develop over time is part of their charm.

For this look, I layered mine over the most incredible chunky cashmere crewneck sweater and looped a cashmere bandana scarf around my neck. (This scarf is under $200, which feels like such a find when so many similar styles cost upwards of $1,000!) Cream-colored jeans brighten the whole look, and I'm convinced this brand makes some of the best denim. A beautiful suede bag picks up the warm caramel tones in the jacket's tartan lining and ties everything together. Truly, the Beadnell looks wonderful over just about any jeans-and-sweater combination in your wardrobe.

A note on fit: Don't size down in the Beadnell! You want a little room to layer chunky sweaters or even a shirt and blazer underneath. The slightly relaxed silhouette is part of what makes it so effortlessly chic. I always go for a US 4/UK 8.

Look Two: The Cropped Barbour Sherpa Jacket

This cropped Barbour sherpa jacket is such a winner! It hits just above the hip, making it especially flattering with longer silhouettes like midi dresses, as well as jeans and high-waisted trousers. The rich brown corduroy and deep chocolate piping are beautiful details, and who doesn't love a little fuzzy sherpa peeking out at the collar and cuffs?

I paired mine with this incredible knit midi dress! I added a chocolate brown belt to give the dress a little definition at the waist, then finished the look with these stunning pointed-toe stiletto boots. I love the way their sleek silhouette adds a little height and lightness to a longer dress, and they look so luxurious while being surprisingly comfortable. They're my go-to footwear with just about any midi skirt or dress this time of year.

The finishing touch is these darling heart-shaped tiger's eye earrings. Tiger's eye is such a beautiful stone, particularly in autumn and winter, and the warm tones couldn't be more perfect with this outfit. I'm normally very classic in my jewelry, but Tuckernuck has such a good assortment of timeless pieces that still make a statement, like this, this, and this, seen throughout this post.

I already know I'll be wearing this jacket and dress combination on repeat. It's cozy, polished, and one of those outfits you just feel wonderful wearing.

Look Three: The Barbour Liddesdale Quilted Jacket

For something a little more casual, the Barbour Liddesdale quilted jacket is a wardrobe workhorse. It has that same timeless appeal as the Beadnell but feels even more relaxed and easygoing. Available in black and olive, it features classic corduroy trim and snap buttons, and it's the sort of jacket you'll throw on for just about everything. As with the Beadnell, I recommend taking your regular size. (I have the US 4/UK 8.) You'll want a little extra room for chunky sweaters and turtlenecks underneath.

I paired mine with this wonderful Fair Isle turtleneck, also from Barbour. You know how much I love Fair Isle, and it's a style I reach for constantly throughout fall and winter. Add a great suede tote, relaxed jeans, and a pair of Barbour wellies, and you're ready for whatever the day holds, from apple picking and country walks to running errands around town.

One more find I couldn't resist sharing is this beautiful new cable-knit throw. It looks like it should cost twice as much as it does, and I think it would make the most wonderful Christmas gift. You can even have it monogrammed with the recipient's initials for an extra-personal touch.

Look Four: The Barbour Tartan Serape

Last but certainly not least, this beautiful Barbour tartan serape is the perfect finishing layer for a cozy fall weekend. I love the richness of the tartan and how effortlessly it dresses up even the simplest outfit. It's one of those pieces that feels as appropriate on a crisp October afternoon as it does throughout the holiday season and beyond.

If you've been reading here for a while, you already know how much I adore Tuckernuck's cashmere loungewear sets. This cashmere hoodie is a favorite, and the matching trousers have the most beautiful drape. (For fit, I recommend taking your usual size in the hoodie. I sized up in the trousers so they wouldn't hug my hips too much.)

Draping the tartan serape over the cashmere set adds just the right amount of pattern and polish, making the whole outfit feel intentional while remaining incredibly comfortable. And can we talk about these fabulous shearling clogs? They're so cozy and chic, they make it perfectly respectable to wear what are essentially house slippers out and about.

It's the ultimate outfit for a leisurely morning, a little shopping in town, or simply enjoying the beautiful autumn scenery with a warm cup of coffee in hand.

My Woodstock Recommendations

Stay: Woodstock has been a beloved getaway since 1793, when Richardson's Tavern first welcomed travelers on the site of today's Woodstock Inn. The Inn remains one of Vermont's most beautiful addresses, with its classic New England charm and cozy fireplaces.

Eat: I love starting the evening with a drink by the Inn's massive lobby fireplace before dinner at Richardson's Tavern (request a table by the fire!) or The Red Rooster. (Both restaurants feature organic produce grown at the Inn's own farm!) For something casual, Worthy Kitchen has fabulous fried chicken, mac and cheese, and local beer, while Mon Vert Café and The Village Butcher are other favorites for lunch. Stop by The Farmer and the Bell or Lil Abra for coffee and pastries. And if you venture to Quechee, The Mill at Simon Pearce offers beautiful views over the falls while you dine.

Do: Woodstock's beautifully preserved architecture makes simply strolling through town a pleasure. Pop into F.H. Gillingham & Sons, an old-fashioned general store that's been a fixture for over 130 years, then browse Woody's Mercantile and R.T. Home for home decor treasures. I also love Farmhouse Pottery and the glassblowing studio at Simon Pearce, reached by one of the prettiest drives along Route 4. For some fresh air, head to Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park for a beautiful hike through the woods. Our favorite route leads up to The Pogue, finishing with hot chocolate at nearby Billings Farm. There are shorter trails for little ones, too!
