An All-American Summer in J.Crew

This weekend we put our boat in the water and it has me so excited for an all-American summer at home! From beach days to clam bakes, boat rides to naps in the sun, I’m looking forward to the season’s simple pleasures. J.Crew is always one of my first stops for a seasonal closet refresh and their June drop is full of warm-weather staples that embody the carefree spirit of summer—think soft textures, easy silhouettes, and go-with-everything neutrals.

As summer starts I’m reaching for effortlessly chic pieces that will carry me through lots of outdoor activities: walking to the beach, swimming off our dock, picnic lunches at the local lobster shack, sunset cocktails on the boat, and so much more. J.Crew’s new collection evokes the nostalgic feel of my favorite summer past times and let me tell you everything is SO GOOD. Their new arrivals include timeless styles like these relaxed linen shorts, a great bikini, the perfect tie-at-the-waist linen top, effortless sundresses and simple sandals, all of which are equally chic whether you’re jetting off on a European adventure or enjoying the sunshine somewhere closer to home.

Below I’m sharing a few of my favorites from their new June collection that I own and love, as well as a handful of pieces I have my eye on!

Fantastic swimwear – I add one or two swim styles from J.Crew to my collection each summer and this year I couldn’t resist the charm of this flirty gingham bikini (top here, bottoms here), I also love the one piece version if you want a little more coverage. A sundress or two – I live in cotton sundresses during the summer and J.Crew’s newest collection has so many sweet styles to choose from! This lace-trimmed maxi dress evokes a romantic nostalgia, scalloped mini dress is perfect for a day of exploring, I’d wear this halter dress with wet hair in a knot fresh out of the shower and I’ve gone on and on about how much I love * this crochet dress over a bathing suit. Summer sweaters – New England girls will know the importance of the summer sweater, as sunny days are often bookended with misty mornings and cool nights. Whether you reach for the cable knit cardigan I’m wearing here, or one of their iconic rollnecks, having a sweater you can throw over your shoulders is a summer must! 

A big beach bag – Summer calls for toting all your essentials in a chic straw bag, and this relaxed version is packable (so key!) and holds a ton!

Greek sandals – These strappy styles are a perennial fashion favorite and the angled strap at the toe of this pair is surprisingly secure and comfortable!
