Tetbury is the antiques capital of the Cotswolds with the highest number of antique stores in any single town in the region. The town of Tetbury itself is very charming and small, easily walkable in half a day, but you’ll want to spend a lot of time stopping in and perusing the stores. The antiques are generally well priced compared to other areas I’ve been to with a variety of large furniture pieces and smaller decorative objects, all of which you’ll want to bring home with you.
Some of my favorites include Amy Perry, which had beautifully restored furniture, lots of gorgeous cushions, and some small tabletop items as well. I also loved Whanam Trading, which had many small decorative boxes, most were historically used as tea caddies or as small bureaus for cabinet makers to bring around when courting clients so they could bring a chest of drawers in the palm of their hand and demonstrate what a finished piece might look like. Top Banana had a very large selection of smaller items, over three stories, and is good if you want to bring a small treasure home in your suitcase. One other place that was beautifully merchandised, I will have to look up the name of, but it was two stories of, I believe it was Josephine something, but there were two stories of beautifully styled interiors, and on the second floor there’s also a room full of vintage clothing, including shoes, dresses, and bags, definitely worth checking out.
