Fall Foliage by Sea

One of my favorite things to do is take our boat out for a cruise, and in autumn it's such a wonderful way to enjoy leaf peeping. We've had incredible color this past week in Portsmouth, so between that and the unusually warm weather we made a point to spend a little extra time on the water. We hopped aboard our vintage 1960 Thompson Seacoaster to explore the fall foliage against the rugged New England coastline, with a big tartan blanket and mug of cider in hand. When the sun is out the colors just pop and the entire experience is pinch-me picturesque. We made a stop at the "Ski Club" at Pepperell Cove for lunch, and felt lucky to snag a table on their balcony overlooking the water. (The butternut gnocchi was incredible!) I love Pepperell Cove for the views and it's one of the few spots that make it easy to arrive by boat in the area. They have a free dock or if that's full you can tie up at a slip at the Kittery Point Public Docks right next door.

If you plan your own trip boats are available through the Freedom Boat Club (I haven't tried it personally), or you can always charter a fishing boat to combine fishing and leaf peeping! We've been out with Sea Time Fishing Charters and had a great time!

This outfit has been my around town go-to for dog walking, errands and everything in between. Call it my casual uniform! I love the big pockets on my barn jacket for dog treats, sunnies, car keys, you name it! These jeans are so good I should probably dedicate a whole blog post to them but until then trust me they're worth every penny. And while I'm not always wearing the same sweater as a part of the uniform, this fair isle cashmere is part of J.Crew's Spring Street Collection which is a premium version of their regular cashmere and you can definitely feel the difference. It is SO soft!
