How to Style an Oversized Shirt

This post is in partnership with Frank & Eileen.

An oversized shirt is a wardrobe essential and just one of those pieces that make you look and feel amazing with minimal effort, à la Annie Banks in Father of the Bride. However it's also one of those pieces that you need the right shirt paired with a few styling tricks to flatter your figure and make it a *look* - whether you're chasing a toddler at home or heading out for a coffee date with friends!

For me, few make a better button-up shirt than Frank and Eileen, from the quality of the Italian cotton, to the perfectly poppable collar, to their super sustainable production process, they do elevated basics SO WELL. Of their many cuts, their Shirley Shirt is the best for this laid back look. I love the longer shirt front, swingy cut and wider sleeve that tapers to a slim cuff, perfect for rolling up to the elbow. I find that if you roll up your sleeves to reveal your wrists and pop the collar it really makes an oversized shirt work, and I like pairing mine with a tapered pant to balance the shirts volume and a sweater thrown over the shoulders to create a vertical line which elongates your figure.

I love the preppy combination of pink and white stripes and navy, but my shirt and sweater both come in so many beautiful colors, you can easily find the perfect hue for you! While it's still winter at home, we have a tropical getaway coming up and I think my pink stripe shirt will look amazing as a bathing suit coverup and I'm looking forward to wearing this mockneck sweater with shorts and espadrilles in the warm weather!
