J.Crew Launches Line of Eco-conscious Swimwear
I haven't loved a swimsuit this much in a long time, and from your reaction to this Instagram post - you loved it too! J.Crew has been my go-to for bathing suits since middle school and I was excited to learn that this week J.Crew is taking a good thing and making it even better by launching a line of sustainable swimwear made from recycled water bottles that will keep 72,325 bottles out of our landfills and oceans.
This is in no way sponsored by J.Crew but I have to applaud when large brands start taking steps to be more responsible and sustainable. While my seersucker bikini is not a part of the new eco-line (I bought it a month before launch) they have released the same, crazy-flattering high waisted silhouette in two darling new prints made from their new sustainable fabrics. I love this rosebud print and this pansy print, both of which would be perfect for Fourth of July festivities! Each top and each bottom saves 3 plastic bottles from ending up in a landfill. Their eco swim collection is just one in a series of launches that are bringing increased responsibility and sustainability to the preppy American retailer, following their eco denim collection that launched in January, made at their first Fair Trade USA certified factory in Vietnam. (They've made a commitment to Fair Trade certifying ALL of their factories in the next five years - an expensive but important undertaking - WOW!)
I've included my favorites from the eco-swim collection below (I just bought the rosebud print bikini!), and you can pair your suit with my favorite sustainable fleeces from Dudley Stephens (which just restocked a bunch of their classic styles!) for a beach-ready outfit that looks good while doing good.
