Daily seasonal styles to inspire your own timeless wardrobe

There’s something about jewel tones that makes even the simplest days feel special. On a crisp morning stroll through Central Park, I paired a deep garnet coat with an emerald tote—colors that glowed against the golden leaves and the city’s soft light. After stopping at the Upper East Side’s newest bakery, Birley, for a flaky pastry and cortado, I was reminded how these rich hues bring warmth and sophistication to both everyday outings and festive gatherings. Below, I’ve rounded up my favorite jewel-toned pieces to carry you from casual mornings to holiday soirées with effortless polish.

  • This garnet A-line dress is such a steal, and works for autumn and holiday events with a quick change of shoes. I'd wear these riding boots for fall, and swap in fun flats for a holiday party.
  • Jewel-tone coats will brighten the dreariest winter day, and feel festive without being overly thematic. J.Crew has a bunch of fabulous options, including this 60s-inspired coat in ruby and emerald (I own in black, seen here), and this classic lodge coat in magenta (I have the olive). Both coats are currently 30% off for J.Crew "Passport" holders, which just means you have an account. (Totally free and gives you complimentary two-day shipping. Everyone needs this!)
  • My burgundy coat has a gorgeous shawl collar, and relaxed, double-breasted shape with a belt that I just LOVE. It's so beautifully made, especially given the price and it's surprisingly versatile. Burgundy works as a lovely foil for other jewel tones, whether it's pink, emerald or marigold. (If you're on the hunt for a more neutral color, it comes in black and mink as well.)
  • I'm in love with this shocking pink dress, and would keep things from looking too sweet with these interesting brooch heels.
  • During a girls' trip to NYC in September I fell in love with this tote, and ordered it in two colors because the options are all so beautiful and I couldn't decide. (More colors here.) I ended up keeping the tote in green, and getting this saddle bag in "Azuki" (a dusty cabernet hue) seen here and here. They're both a part of Loro Piana's Ghiera collection and feature subtle equestrian-inspired details and no visible logos, letting the design and leather speak for themselves. I have a solid collection of neutral bags in blacks and browns, and wanted to add some jewel tones for added interest and they're already proving much more versatile than I expected!
  • Other, more wallet-friendly but no less fabulous handbags in beautiful gemstone hues include this, this (a great alternative to my saddle bag), this (under $150!), and this!
  • While my sweater above is camel, the incredible embroidery includes many jewel tones, offering a wonderful variety of styling options. I love how it looks with these jeans (15% off with "Stacie15") but you could also throw it on over a slip dress, or cream trousers, or satin trousers!
  • Cashmere absorbs bold color so beautifully, and a sweater provides an easy pop of color even if you just pair it with jeans. A few favorites include this emerald polo sweater, this peridot cardigan (seen here), or this relaxed turtleneck that I own in 3 colors (get 20% off with "Stacie20"), or this crewneck in bright pink or ruby red.
  • I have these little mule slides in an old colorway from this past spring, and love their feminine appeal - plus the shocking pink feels so festive, even if you're wearing a simple black outfit and sparkly earrings.
  • Speaking of sparkle, it's time to pull out your statement earrings for party season. Dorsey is one of my favorite destinations for quality jewelry that won't break the bank, and each piece looks like a family heirloom. Whether you prefer sapphires, emeralds, or citrine, they have the perfect party-ready earring.
  • This ruby red lady jacket is on major sale (get an extra discount with code "hithere"). Wear it over an all-black look with sparkly earrings for a great day-to-night outfit. Or wear it casually with a tee and jeans. I just love it!
  • Satin in jewel tones always look so luxe. A few silky dresses that caught my eye for holiday parties include this red lace and satin cocktail dress, this magenta draped number, and this green halter gown.
  • A few fun tops worth a look include this aquamarine statement, this deep amethyst jacquard top (such a favorite, seen here), a glamorous pumpkin blouse perfect for Thanksgiving dinner, and this ruby silk blouse that I'd tuck into a pair of jeans and wear with these velvet flats.
