Most of us will be taking our holiday celebrations outside this weekend and David and I are looking forward to celebrating with my family and barbecue. We’re lucky enough to have a wonderful patio right off our kitchen and when the weather is warm enough we throw open our doors and embrace the best of California’s indoor-outdoor lifestyle.
I pulled our new bar cart from Serena & Lily outside in preparation for this weekend’s festivities and LOVE how it looks in our garden! (Here’s my first post on how to style a bar cart in case you missed it!) I made a few tweaks to the previous setup to simplify things for a party. Three drink options work well, neatly grouped with garnishes and a lot of ice on standby. I went with sparkling water, iced tea (spiked – or not!) and simple G&Ts (guests can manage two ingredients). Each drink works well in the rattan tumblers piled on top. Rather than neat rows of glassware waiting for guests it’s nice to gather them loosely so guests don’t worry about “being the first” to take something. Pull up a smaller side table like this white garden stool for extra space for guests to put down a plate or glass while prepping their drink. Summer is about simplicity and a big bunch of the season’s favorite flower look elegant in a blue and white ginger jar. (Just be sure to bring the bar cart back inside after the party – the South Seas Bar Cart isn’t weatherproof.)
To celebrate the Fourth of July, Serena & Lily are having a massive sale and offering 20% off everything with code “GOCOASTAL”. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite pieces below to help you entertain for the rest of the summer in style.
