Our time in Jamaica was a stream of wonderfully warm, sunny days ideal for lounging on the beach or by the pool. I packed for 8 days in just one carry on duffle and love devising outfits that pull double duty to save on luggage space. Tying a pareo (also known as sarong) over a swimsuit serves as a chic alternative to a swim coverup because you can easily transition from beach/poolside to an al fresco lunch while looking both stylish and appropriate. (And so much more elegant than cut-off shorts!) Whether the pareo and suit are a matching set like this and this, or coordinating separates it’s always an elegant look. Similarly, I love tucking a starched collared shirt into a pareo for an afternoon of shopping then adding a pair of heels for happy hour.
For those of you who are mapping out their first post-pandemic tropical trip or even just sitting poolside in your backyard to enjoy the increasingly lovely weather, I've curated a selection of some of my favorite pareos available right now, plus some adorable swimsuits and beachy accessories to pair with them.
