May is generally my favorite time to travel. This time last year I was in Portugal with Sarah Flint gathering inspiration for her spring 2020 shoe collection which draws on the patterns and colors of one of Europe’s most vibrant capitals – Lisbon! Even though we haven’t ventured much further than the backyard this year, it’s exciting to see one of my favorite destinations come to life through Sarah’s newest collection of shoes in a gorgeous limited edition blue azulejo jacquard. The blue and white pattern is drawn from a photograph I took on our trip, which Sarah transformed into a beautiful woven fabric with the help of famed Stephen Walters & Sons – a 300 year old mill known for their ornate jacquards. The blue and white jacquard now adorns Sarah Flint’s most popular styles including the Natalie Flat, Emma Pump and Perfect Block Sandal – just in time to wear with summer’s little white dresses.
Getting a behind the scenes look at Sarah’s business has been one of the highlights of the past year, from touring factories in Italy with the SF team to designing her Soho popup shop. As spring photoshoots were postponed, this collection came full circle when the team asked me to photograph the shoes while quarantining at our family shore house. The images below combine favorites from last year’s trip with how I’ve been styling her shoes while at the shore. All outfit details are linked in my daily looks section of the blog and you can see the full travel diary from our Lisbon trip here. Take me back!
