Styling One Dress for City and Coast

Stacie Flinner Tuckernuck Dress Sarah Flint Belt Sale-2.jpg

A few of you asked that I share how to style pieces multiple ways, and you’re in luck as I’ve already brought this easy white dress on two trips and can confirm it looks just as fabulous on the streets of London as it does on the coast of Italy. (Scroll to the bottom for shots from Italy.) This is one of those dresses that looks like nothing on the hanger then  :: BAM :: it’s so comfortable and flattering on, and you’ll find yourself reaching for it again and again. Plus, the breezy cotton and $158 price point make this dress an all-around winner – you can swap your accessories endlessly for a myriad of different looks. It also comes in an army green that would look great with white accessories now, and transition effortlessly to autumn with camel or espresso accents.

Perhaps best described as a tiered tent shape, the generous proportions look best cinched in with a statement belt.  My favorite belts all come from Sarah Flint, who is offering 20% off all belts through July 31st with code “STACIE20”. I have a fairly straight shape, and love the definition a belt gives to my waist, and how it can create the illusion of longer legs.  Whether this timeless belt with a statement buckle, or this innovative leather design that you can thread a silk scarf through, adding a belt adds instant polish to an outfit. Wider belts work best with this dress and if you’re on the hunt for less expensive options,  this is a great option (under $50) or I love the woven detail of this one ($220). Add a classic belt to your wardrobe and you can enjoy it for years and if you need belt styling inspiration you’ll find lots of looks on throughout my blog here

Both looks are perfect for summer! Love how you used accessories to really fit the city or coast.

Hello Stacie. I am new to your blog, which I found through a web search for classic summer outfits. I am enjoying your content. I’m leaving this comment because I love how you have belted this particular dress as it is quite voluminous and could overwhelm a woman’s figure. I have seen this style of dress in my local clothing stores and have avoided the style due to my size. (Very petite: 5’2 and 95 pounds) A high belt really makes a difference with the dress! It creates a much more flattering look than just wearing the dress loose. The accents of black against this crisp, summery white look lovely!

    Hi Stacie
I’d love to purchase the reversible belt but they seem sold out of every color. Do you have a suggestion on where else to look?
    Thank you

Hi Kate! This design is original to Sarah Flint and I’ve never seen it anywhere else, but I just checked and it looks like they have an 80cm left in the cream/tan, and three sizes in the black/white. (Link here.) Not sure if you saw that before but wanted to make sure! xx Stacie
