There’s just something about suede that I can’t resist. I love the way its soft, velvety texture takes rich, saturated color so beautifully, from deep burgundy and chocolate brown to navy, camel, and even unexpected shades of blue and purple. It feels wonderfully luxurious, yet it’s also surprisingly breathable and easy to wear, especially in shoes and lighter layers. Even the smallest touch of suede has a way of elevating an outfit and making it feel a little richer and more considered. Needless to say, I’m a big fan, so I’ve rounded up all of my favorite suede pieces right now, from statement jackets and skirts to beautiful shoes, bags, and everyday accessories.
Jackets & Coats
- This toffee boyfriend blazer is a dream layering piece. Throw it over a black tee and jeans for instant polish, or dress it up with trousers and a heel for dinner.
- Picture this mocha suede coat belted over a slip dress for dinner or left open with wide-leg trousers. The fluid, unlined drape makes it feel almost like a robe (in the best way).
- Ann Mashburn's navy suede safari jacket is a true heritage piece I know I'll have forever. The belted waist is so flattering, and it looks incredible over a white tee with jeans or tailored trousers.
- Rich chocolate goat suede elevates this shirt jacket (20% off with StacieM20) into something truly special. (My mom owns this and it's fab!) Layer it over a slim turtleneck and trousers now, or drape it over a sundress on cool summer evenings.
- Wine-colored suede on a cropped jacket is perfection for fall layering. This one looks amazing over a floral dress or with high-waisted trousers. (And the price point is fantastic!)
- Burgundy lambskin suede with a contrasting black leather collar gives this barn jacket an effortlessly cool edge. And it's on sale! Throw it on over all black for city days or with denim for weekends.
- And for your guy!! David has a cotton canvas version of this barn jacket but wow I love it even more in suede! Women can even size down for a cool, slightly oversized, relaxed look over a cashmere crewneck and jeans.
Tops, Skirts & Pants
- I'm obsessed with my tan suede sweeping skirt and the way it moves. My color is sold out but this one is also from Nour Hammour and stunning, or this and this (love the details!) are both camel and great price points. Style these with a silk blouse (mine is vintage YSL, but this (20% off with StacieM20) is a great alternative!) or a tucked-in cashmere sweater like this cashmere tee or this blue Fair Isle (so chic).
- If you like the look of the Cartolina skirt above, they also make a coordinating top (so chic as a matching set or with jeans!) and a shift dress that is just gorgeous!
- Dark brown suede wide-leg pants with leather pocket details are incredibly chic. Style with a tucked-in cream cashmere sweater and boots for a luxe fall look.
- Purple suede is bold and beautiful in this pencil skirt, which would look incredible with a sage or ivory silk blouse. (Honestly love the green version as well!) Such a statement piece for date night or a special dinner out.
- Me+Em knocked it out of the park with this suede box tee. It's the kind of unexpected luxe piece that instantly elevates jeans and chunky gold hoops for a weekend lunch or gallery visit. (Very cool with these statement cords too!)
- This dark chocolate mini skirt feels very Parisian. (Mais oui!) Dress it down with a quilted barn coat or dress it up with a chunky knit and kitten heels.
Shoes
- These burgundy suede slingbacks are stunning. The rich color works beautifully with navy, camel, and cream. For other burgundy options at wallet-friendly prices, I love these pumps (20% off with StacieM20) and these ballet flats (20% off with StacieM20).
- If you live somewhere warm, suede sandals are a great way to give a nod to the season without overdoing it. These strappy heeled sandals are so chic for transitional dressing. Similarly, these T-strap sandals (15% off with STACIE15) are a suede update to one of my favorite pairs of sandals.
- I packed these brown suede stiletto boots for England and they are so comfortable and go with everything from midi skirts and dresses to under wide-leg jeans and trousers. The croc-embossed heels are such a beautiful detail.
- There are a lot of suede ballet flats out there, but these are hands down the most flattering and comfortable. They're handcrafted in Italy with real arch support, which is a game changer. If you want something under $150, my friend was wearing these and they looked so nice!
- The whipstitch detail on these taupe suede ankle boots or tan tall boots gives them such a beautiful slightly western/bohemian feel. Great with dresses, skirts, or trousers, and the heel is comfortable for all day. (I have two pairs of the "Lisa" boots!)
- I've mentioned these retro suede sneakers before and finally ordered them. I love the warm brown with the navy stripe. They're perfect for my daily walks and with jeans and a blazer on weekends.
- A classic brown suede penny loafer is the kind of shoe you'll reach for constantly. I have these and they are so soft and comfy! (Take your smaller shoe size.) Wear with cropped trousers and a blazer for work, or cropped jeans and a cozy sweater on weekends.
- These woven suede ballet flats in saddle are artisan-crafted in Spain and remind me of Bottega, which you know I love!
- Celtic knot-inspired lattice detailing makes these black suede pumps truly one of a kind. They're elegant enough for a formal event but would also elevate a simple blazer and jeans look.
- Leopard suede pumps at a walkable 70mm heel are the definition of a wardrobe workhorse. I wore them a lot while in London.
Bags
- The gold hardware on this burgundy suede pochette is perfection. It's the kind of clutch that instantly elevates a simple dress for dinner out or a holiday party, but you can wear it casually as well. It comes in loads of beautiful colors and is luxury designer quality at a much better price.
- Toffee suede with that signature hardware makes this maxi hobo from Strathberry a perfect everyday bag. I tried it on in their London store and had to have it. It reminds me of one of Chanel's bags, without the logos. I'll be styling it soooooooon!
- The hand-woven suede panels on this dove gray shoulder bag are truly a work of art. It's the perfect neutral bag for both casual weekend looks and dressier outfits with a gray wool coat!
- For a chic work-to-weekend bag, this brown suede top handle bag (12% off with STACIE12) fits a 13" laptop and looks incredibly luxurious. I love it with tailored trousers or tossed over the shoulder with jeans. I wore it nonstop on my England trip.
- Bottega's iconic Intrecciato weave in suede makes this top handle bag absolutely stunning. I have it in leather and it's one of my most worn everyday bags.
- Burgundy is one of those colors that suede does best, and this bucket bag with tassel details is so elegant for everyday. Love it with jeans, a trench, and ballet flats. It will make the outfit.
- How fun is the animal print on this hobo bag? The spotty print reads almost like a neutral and would look gorgeous with earth tones, denim, or a simple black outfit that needs a little something extra. (I have another suede version from last year and wore it nonstop - it holds a lot and lies nicely against your side.)
- I've had my eye on this equestrian-inspired tote and the suede version might be the most beautiful. Perfect for carrying everything from work essentials to what you need for a fall getaway.
- Another London find, this mocha suede saddle bag with brushed gold hardware is refined without being fussy. A go-to piece for pairing with tweedy blazers, plaid, and corduroy.
- Khaite's velvety suede clutch has the most beautiful Art Deco-inspired hardware. It's the perfect evening bag, sleek enough for a cocktail party with a silk dress and statement earrings.
- Stunning in navy, black, or cognac, this suede tote is the kind of bag that makes a quiet statement. I have the cognac and got to visit the Italian factory where these are handmade by skilled artisans and it's such incredible quality for the price.
