Black & White & Sustainable
One of my favorite aspects of running this blog is meeting and highlighting emerging brands that are doing something special and this post has THREE that I'm excited to share with you, all with a strong, sustainability story.
Tell No Leyes - is one of my favorite recent discoveries. Each gorgeous bag is inspired by the grand architecture of Europe (something I'm missing right about now), designed in New York, handcrafted in Italy, and consciously produced every step of the way. From paying artisans a fair wage to sourcing from tanneries that rely on solar power, founder April Paterson has envisioned a brand that creates elegant bags that look good and do good at the same time. I'm carrying the Jamie (which also comes in this scrumptious green) and love it's refined appeal. Even if I'm not out and about it has been sitting on our table like a decorative objet d'art!
Additionally, for the summer 25% of the profit from each sale goes to supporting Gyrl Wonder, a professional pipeline 501c3 initiative giving rise to ambitious young women of color between the ages of 17 - 22. Gyrl Wonder empowers gyrls through social impact, career exploration and objective alignment. They provide access and resources necessary for them to successfully enter a competitive workforce while teaching them how to leverage these tools to reach their personal and professional goals.
Dora Maar - My friend Lauren Wilson left her role at Moda last year to launch Dora Maar - a fashion platform offering a curated selection of preowned luxury fashion from the most coveted closets. Thrifting and shopping pre-loved pieces is a great way to build up a fabulous closet for less and I love how she photographs each piece in an editorial way to help you envision how the item can be worn. I scooped up this gorgeous black blouse from Saint Laurent on her site and can't wait to wear it on repeat once the temperature cools a bit. (Other favorites include this Brunello Sweater and this fabulous Bottega full skirt!)
Monbouquette - I had the pleasure of meeting mother-daughter team, Jenny and Lily of Monbouquette during an event at the Sarah Flint Soho popup last fall. Their sustainable earrings are a 2-in-1 look that transform from simple gold balls to an elegant pearl drop earring with a touch. (The gold ball can open to let the pearl drop!) Their other styles feature gold, silver, and diamond versions all made of sustainably sourced materials and ethically produced in Rhode Island. They're chic, chic, chic and perfect for travel or a desk-to-date night transition when we're back to that way of life!
I love that each piece will be a treasured part of my wardrobe for years to come.
