The Best Festive Red Finds, at Every Price Point

I may have gone a little overboard collecting beautiful red things for this roundup, but once you see what's out there, I think you'll understand why! There are so many gorgeous pieces this season, from the most romantic red dresses to cozy cashmere, fabulous velvet, and shoes that make an entire outfit. I've included a few dreamy designer splurges alongside plenty of finds under $300 that are every bit as exciting. And the best part? So many of these pieces are classics you'll reach for well beyond Christmas, because a little red is always a good idea.

My Look: I saw this pleated red maxi dress online and thought this will either be amazing or a disaster. Well, dear reader it's SO GOOD and a guaranteed winner with a few styling tricks. Define your waist with an embellished belt and add gold strappy heels (on sale!) for a little height. I love this satin clutch for carrying essentials and this clutch is a great alternative for under $100.) I'm wearing my normal size dress in the photos, but would recommend sizing down.

Designer Treasures

  • For a show-stopping holiday party, the floral lace inserts on this cerise merino gown are so romantic. It's a splurge, but the long sleeves and fitted knit make it a dress you'll pull out every December, with gold heels and a sleek bun.
  • If you don't feel like you can wear red, start with these satin mules with that iconic crystal buckle. They're so fun with black trousers for a holiday party, or dark wash jeans (these are a great cut, and only $32. Really!) and an oversized sweater (size down) for Christmas Eve.
  • This classic lipstick red sweater dress is something you buy once and wear for decades to come.
  • Bubble-hem velvet makes this red peplum jacket feel like a party on its own. Button it up over a silk camisole and black trousers for holiday dinners, then try it with slim jeans and heels when you want a festive surprise.
  • I have this leather clutch in brown, but have the oxblood red on my wishlist. Made in Italy, it's a rich pop of color day or night.
  • The dramatic oversized collar on this crimson wool coat makes such a statement, and the tie waist keeps the shape flattering. Throw it over a lace dress and heels for a party, or over cozy knits and boots all winter.
  • I have one red dress from Emilia Wickstead that I call my Christmas dress and wear every year. If I were buying one this year, this is my favorite from their collection.

Under $600

  • A quilted velvet coat (15% off with STACIE15) in wine, with a circle pattern and stand collar, feels so festive layered over a black sweater and black pants. It's also unexpected with jeans and a turtleneck for holiday shopping or a Christmas tree lighting.
  • The fringed scarf tie at the waist of this ruby midi skirt is such a charming detail. Pair with an ivory sweater and tall boots for a holiday market, or a black turtleneck and heels for dinner.
  • Cozy, relaxed, and the brightest red, this cashmere turtleneck (20% off with SF20) is the easiest way to wear the color. Tuck it into cream trousers for a holiday lunch, or pair with jeans and loafers on Christmas morning.
  • So warm and very flattering, this red merino-cashmere wrap midi has a tie waist that looks like a knotted sweater. Block heels for work, sparkly heels for Christmas Eve dinner.
  • Holiday shopping calls for a roomy bag, and red flannel with brown leather straps makes this tote the coziest carry. Side buttons adjust its shape, and it adds a pop of red to a camel coat and jeans.
  • Bias-cut satin skims the body so beautifully, and this full-length satin skirt in deep red is an easy way to dress up for the holidays. Style it with a cashmere sweater and matching heels for a dinner party, then a black bodysuit for New Year's.
  • Après-ski charm meets city style in this scarlet Fair Isle zip jacket ($50 off with STACIE50) in a soft merino blend. Zip it over a black turtleneck with leggings and boots for a snowy weekend, or layer it with slim trousers for a cozy holiday market stroll.
  • A lipstick red suede pump is the easiest way to add a touch of red if you're shy about the color. Contoured arch support and extra padding mean you can wear them from the office straight through a holiday party.

Finds Under $300

  • Red velvet is the ultimate holiday party fabric, and this velvet mini with three-quarter sleeves is so chic for under $250. Pair with sheer tights and pumps for a cocktail party, or bare legs and metallic heels on New Year's Eve. This shift dress is equally stunning but has a slightly more casual feel, great with these emerald cut earrings (under $60) and a metallic heel!
  • These red suede ballet flats (20% off with SF20) have a chic squared toe and fun contrast stitching. A fun pop of color for your daily uniform.
  • These bestselling velveteen jeans are super flattering and look amazing with a silky organza tuxedo shirt or a chunky cashmere for casual entertaining at home.
  • I just got this snowflake Fair Isle sweater in soft lambswool which feels straight out of a ski chalet. It runs big with a relaxed fit, so it's lovely with leggings and boots by the fire or jeans for tree shopping. (I got my normal size.)
  • Sixties-inspired and polished, this cranberry shift dress (15% off with STACIE15) is under $300 and so festive for a holiday office party. Add tights and pumps now, then bring it back in spring with sandals and a straw bag.
  • Sequins for under $150? This red sequin skirt has a sleek column shape that is so elegant with a fitted black turtleneck and pointed heels for parties.
  • A few red cashmere accessories for a pop of color: I own this beanie and the shape is great, these gloves have leather palms for durability, and I love the warmth and romance of a balaclava.
  • Jersey is so forgiving for long holiday dinners, and this sleeveless red maxi dress has a pretty tie at the waist. Layer a blazer or cardigan over it now, then wear it on its own with sandals for a warm-weather getaway later.
  • Festive mornings call for red pajamas, and I happen to be a collector. My favorites are this red flannel set (on sale for $82!), these ticking stripe jammies (size up) and this jersey set (10% off with STACIE10) with crisp white piping. Any of them would make such a thoughtful gift for your mom or sister.
  • A red quilted Barbour jacket is a festive finishing touch to your everyday uniform.
  • This non-toxic red nail polish is perfect for a holiday manicure. (Lasts 7-10 days, but you have to use the whole system!)
  • Oxblood satin and a sweet pointed-toe bow make these mules so pretty for the season. The manageable heel is perfect for a long night of holiday parties, peeking out from a black midi or cropped velvet trousers.
