Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, Italy

Sarah Flint recently debuted her spring 2022 collection “Ode to Italy“, so it only seemed right to look back on our 2021 editorial shoot trip when we captured images for her spring campaign. Most of my time on the Amalfi Coast predated this blog (we took relatively few photos on our honeymoon here, and I didn’t even own a camera at that time), so I’m thrilled to share images of this beautiful place with you now.

We stayed at the incomparable Villa Cimbrone, perched on a cliff at the edge of the hilltop town of Ravello. The first mentions of the property date back to the 11th century during Ravello’s golden age, and the villa has been stewarded by aristocratic families throughout the centuries. Today, the property is best known for it’s spectacular gardens, which were largely designed at the beginning of the 20th century with the input of the English gardener Vita Sackville-West, andVilla Cimbrone is considered among the most important examples of English landscape and botany culture in South of Europe. No wonder I love it! The villa is currently a stunning hotel with antique-filled rooms and breathtaking views of the Mediterranean from almost every room. It was such a treat to spend a few nights here. Aside from the multi-course breakfast (which includes a slice of cake!), perhaps the best perk of staying onsite is wandering the gardens before they open to the public at 9am – the quiet serenity and golden morning light are otherworldly. Other fabulous spots around town include lunch on the terrance at Hotel Villa Maria and dinner at Wine Bar Palazzo Della Maria, as well as shopping for pottery at Ceramiche Cosmolina – which shipped my hand-painted mirror so quickly it was waiting for me when I arrived home from my trip!
