A Peek at My Fall Wishlist

There’s something especially exciting about this time of year, when the first fall collections begin arriving and suddenly I’m ready to turn over my wardrobe for the season ahead. I’ve been keeping a running wishlist of the pieces, textures and details that have caught my eye so far, from swishy fringe and rich suede to croc accessories, cozy intarsia knits and elevated takes on the classic barn jacket. Some are major investments I know I’d wear for years, while others simply feel like a fun way to make getting dressed this fall a little more interesting. Consider this my early edit of everything I’m currently coveting as the new collections roll in.

I bought this skirt (on sale!) at the end of last season and have been eagerly awaiting the first fall day I can pull it out. If your size is sold out, this just launched in a beautiful chocolate brown, and this skirt gives the same look for a fraction of the price.

Suede holds color so beautifully, so for a bolder look I love this purple suede pencil skirt. I'd pair it with a silk blouse and heeled boots for a fall dinner. Similarly, this light blue skirt is an outfit maker for under $200.

Bringing out fall boots calls for new denim silhouettes, and I have my eye on two styles to try for the season ahead. I just ordered these high-rise straight-leg jeans that everyone raves about, and they're offered in three lengths, which is a dream for petites and tall girls alike. (I love this style so much I own two pairs.) The waist-snatching fit and vintage-inspired creasing make them ideal with tucked-in sweaters, blazers, and ankle boots all season long.

For a leg-lengthening option, these Italian cotton flare jeans with pressed front creases are so flattering. (I also love the dusty wash.) They look incredible with heeled boots and a chunky knit for an elevated casual moment.

Croc is having a moment, and this deep burgundy croc-embossed mini bag is the evening bag I've been searching for. The structured top handle and rich wine color make it perfect for fall dinners and holiday parties. Another gorgeous croc-embossed piece from Liffner, this leather pouch in a neutral beige works as a clutch or as a crossbody with the optional strap, which is the kind of day-to-night versatility I always look for.

I also bought these delicious croc slingbacks to go with the tote I'm wearing above. They're almost sold out (sorry!) but the heeled version has more stock. If you want a darker color, these cocoa-colored slingback heels are equally right with trousers for the office, a midi skirt for date night, or dark denim for drinks.

I love croc so much that one shoe might not be enough. How chic are these croc-effect kitten heels? The low curved heel makes them comfortable enough for all day, and they look gorgeous with everything in your fall wardrobe. These textured black kitten heels are incredibly versatile, and the pointed toe and adjustable strap make them comfortable enough for a full day at work or a long dinner.

More time at home means refreshing my loungewear collection, and there are a few new pieces I can't wait to cuddle up in! First up, machine washable cotton cashmere ($50 off with STACIE50) in a cute stripe? Say no more. I'm also eyeing this olive cashmere hoodie and matching olive cashmere wide-leg pants. (I own this set in another color and love it, so I know it will get a lot of use.) I also just ordered this chocolate brown three-piece set and can already tell it will be on repeat for sleeping and sipping my morning coffee.

Intarsia sweaters bring extra interest to autumn's coziest knits, and there are so many beautiful options this season. I'm drawn to this fair isle turtleneck from Barbour with its chunky turtleneck and tonal pattern. It's the perfect sweater for apple picking, weekend walks, or layered under a waxed jacket on chilly days. In the same spirit but with more color, I'm obsessed with this pink argyle cashmere sweater for a preppy pop.

The cardigans are where fall motifs get really charming. If you love equestrian-inspired style, this zip-up cardigan with its horse and floral intarsia is absolutely darling over a button-down with riding boots. (Sold out most places in the US, so snag this if you love it!) Even though this shawl cardigan is for boys, the flying duck motif is so good layered over a white tee with corduroys and boots for a countryside weekend. (I'm tempted to try the boys size large.)

For the days that call for something ultra cozy, this luxurious cashmere bandana cardigan with fringed trim feels like wearing a beautiful blanket. Belt it over a slip dress for dinner, or wear it open with a turtleneck and wide-leg trousers. (This sweater offers a very similar look for a lot less!)

Fringe gives any piece beautiful movement, and I'm seeing it everywhere this season, adorning tops, jackets, bags and more!

• I just saved this stunning silk fringe top to my wishlist. The hand-embroidered macramé fringe and cape silhouette are pure drama. Perfect for a special dinner with tailored black wool trousers or leather pants.
• This understated fringe hobo bag will add flair to even the simplest jeans and a tee uniform, from school drop-off to weekends spent antiquing.
• The attached tassel scarf on this wool-cashmere coat is such a clever detail, and you can style it multiple ways. A beautiful layering piece over knits and trousers when temperatures really drop.
• This hand-beaded paisley mini dress is a showstopper for fall dinners and holiday parties.

I find jewelry is an increasingly important part of my fall and winter wardrobe, adding a touch of texture, interest and sparkle to wooly knits and tweeds.

• I'm still dreaming of these paisley-shaped diamond stud earrings from the legendary French jeweler, Boucheron. I love that you don't see these everywhere, and they feel like a vintage find. (Perhaps I think that because they make a cocktail ring that reminds me of a vintage serpent ring David gave me as a birthday present.)
• For more of a statement, this tiger's eye station necklace sits perfectly at the collarbone and has a magnetic clasp (so easy!). I love it layered over a slim turtleneck, or worn alone peeking out from a collared blouse like this.
• I just ordered this diamond chain bracelet with graduated clusters. It's a modern twist on the classic tennis bracelet, and it looks so pretty peeking out of the cuff of your sweater.

Barn jackets can and should be some of the most affordable pieces in your wardrobe, but as a long-time fan of the silhouette, I'm also eyeing elevated takes on this timeless style. Additionally, barn jackets are some of my most-worn pieces for everyday activities, so the girl math works out.

• The leather collar on this cropped double-breasted jacket gives it such an elevated edge. Gorgeous over a sweater dress for dinner.
• I'm obsessed with the buttery suede and lambskin collar on this suede jacket. It's designed oversized so consider sizing down. Beautiful over a cream knit and dark denim for weekend dinners.
• If you love a quilted barn jacket, this green corduroy jacket from Blazé Milano is stunning, or consider this red herringbone wool jacket which feels so perfectly autumnal.
• A light blue suede chore jacket is such an unexpected fall color and I love the cropped, boxy shape. Perfect with cream trousers and ankle boots for an elevated weekend outfit.
• For a much more affordable but no less chic option, I love the metal clasp buttons on this black barn jacket, which give it a city-ready edge. I've also been eyeing this plaid wool barn coat for its gorgeous heritage feel.

Sezane announced a rebrand earlier this summer and a commitment to creating fewer, higher-quality pieces. Well, they rolled out their fall collection this past weekend, and wow does it have my attention. A few standouts:

• This navy wool coat, which has the most beautiful cape-like silhouette. I'd wear it over trousers and a turtleneck for dinners out, or toss it over weekend denim with a leopard ballet flat.
• This organic cotton macramé blouse is a perfect transitional piece. Pair it with a high-waisted skirt or denim for any September excursion. (I have a love for tops like this, see also here.)
• This shoulder bag in a rich coffee suede has the perfect slouchy shape for fall. It pairs beautifully with warm neutrals, burgundy, or navy.
• I love this oversized white blouse, which seems like a staple I'd reach for constantly. Belt it over trousers like shown on the model, or wear it untucked with straight-leg jeans and loafers on the weekend.

Has anyone else suddenly become obsessed with everything Burberry? It started when I saw a woman carrying their new Cotswolds tote with the House Check side panels, a timeless and practical beauty. (It also comes in this opulent calf hair version.) The compact size fits your essentials, and that twist-lock closure is such a beautiful detail.

Beyond their beautiful bags, I have several of their jackets and coats on my mind, including this quilted jacket, this perfect (albeit splurgey) cream wool coat and this cape!
