As temperatures dip, a fabulous coat becomes the centerpiece of every winter outfit—equal parts warmth and style. This curated roundup of 30 standout coats has something for every moment of the season, from striking leopard prints and festive holiday plaids to timeless wardrobe staples in white, red, black, and camel. Whether you’re dressing for a snowy stroll, a polished workday, or a sparkling night out, these layers are the pieces you’ll reach for again and again.
Winter White - I saw the coat I'm wearing in this post online and didn't think it was special, but popped into a ME+EM store in London and realized I was so wrong. (They even have a petite version!) The color is listed as oatmeal, but it's a lightly marled winter white and I'm in love. The coordinating shearling collar is sold out, but you can get the same look with this, this or this. If oversized coats aren't your thing, this winter white coat and this mod coat has a more tailored silhouette and attractive price!
Rich reds - I love a deep red or burgundy coat this time of year and two of my personal favorites are this garnet red wrap coat and this burgundy shawl collar coat. The burgundy coat also comes in a beautiful taupe and classic black and is amazing quality for the price. It holds its own next to coats that are 3x as expensive. I love the bright holiday red of this coat, and if you're looking to invest, this Max Mara is a dream.
Black - My two tried and true black coats are this belted number (a few left!) that I've had for 5 years, and this double breasted style. They're both pieces you can wear for decades, and majorly slimming.
Plaid - Ohhhhh how I love a plaid coat! I've been watching for this checked scarf coat to come back in stock and just snagged one (it's SO GOOD). I find blackwatch coats like this and this especially festive. Other fabulous options include this happy plaid, this brown English check or this handsome duffle coat!
Brown/Camel - A camel wrap coat is as classic as they come, and there are beautiful options available at every price point. This one is very similar to mine, but I also love this and this. I love the added flair on this camel coat which feels special yet is still very versatile, and this collarless style is perfect for pairing with a silk scarf wrapped at the neck.
Peacoats - These timeless, preppy staples never go out of style. I love the big collar on this navy peacoat, and the cardinal red fabric by Loro Piana (!) on this slim cut peacoat.
Shearling - Few things offer as much warmth as a shearling coat. I have had a lighter version of this shearling bomber jacket for years. For something straight out of the snowy lunch scene in House of Gucci I love this, this, or this. I ordered this one which is gorgeous and on sale but I needed a smaller size. (Size down!) I saw a girl wearing this faux fur long coat in NYC and it's amazing, and lastly this khaki green coat is a stunner and in my cart.
Statement - Embellishments, satins, jacquards, I love it all! This stunning pink coat is ready to party all winter long, and this green duster coat is an easy finishing touch to an all black outfit. The beading on this black coat is something special for your fanciest evening events.
Leopard - Certainly leopard is a statement, but it deserves it's own category because there are so many gorgeous options! This collarless coat is a chic, 60s silhouette, and you can get 15% off with "Stacie15". Another gorgeous option is this cropped leopard jacket which looks like this Nili Lotan jacket I've been obsessing over for 1/10 the price. This coat has a matching dress - so chic with black tights and heels or boots. I also love this one which has metallic threads and is under $250 and this long version feels very Holly Golightly and is on sale.
