Everything I Packed for Nantucket
Nantucket is always a bright spot in our spring calendar, especially during the annual Daffodil Festival, even when April weather calls for a few extra layers. This weekend I packed with the summer ahead in mind: beautifully textured knits, crisp coastal dresses, chic sandals, and subtle nautical touches that feel right at home in coastal New England. Whether you’re planning weekends by the water, harbor walks, or breezy dinners outdoors, consider these picks an amazing summer checklist for polished, effortless dressing all season long.
Dresses
- I just ordered this stunning floral silk midi dress and the cascading ruffles are even more beautiful in person. Ideal for a Nantucket dinner with strappy sandals and gold earrings.
- The batik print on this silk dress is gorgeous in a different colorway. Those flutter sleeves and tiered ruffles feel perfectly festive for a summer wedding or special coastal dinner.
- Nothing says polished summer like a great shirt dress, and this rust cotton poplin dress from Max Mara is a standout. Cinch the belt and add espadrilles for a chic daytime look.
- This minimalist white cotton dress has the most beautiful clean lines and easy drape. Pair with flat sandals for the daffodil festival or heeled sandals for a sunset dinner.
Tops
- You need a great navy ribbed tank in your summer rotation. This one layers perfectly under cardigans and blazers, or wears beautifully on its own with shorts on warm days.
- My go-to white button-down is truly the MVP of every packing list. The slim cut and tulip shaped hem make it perfect for tucking into jeans or wearing under a sweater.
- The double bow detail on this linen sleeveless top is so elegant without trying too hard. I'd pair it with the Doen silky pants below for a seaside dinner or white jeans during the day.
- This preppy gingham popover shirt is a gorgeous layering piece, or looks great tucker into jeans on it's own. (The sleeves are very slim cut for wearing under sweaters, you may want to size up.)
- This navy cashmere-silk knit tee is one of those elevated basics you'll wear on repeat. Tucked into a skirt for dinner or with shorts and sneakers for a casual afternoon stroll.
Sweaters
- I fell in love with this hand-embroidered sailboat cardigan the second I saw it. The nautical motifs are charming without being kitschy. I also love this more affordable pastel sailboat cardigan.
- The cable-knit texture on this ivory cotton rollneck sweater is so pretty and feels perfectly coastal. Pair with wide-leg trousers for exploring town or throw over a sundress for foggy Nantucket mornings.
- An iconic flag sweater that belongs in every New England wardrobe. I have an older version of this Aran-knit texture in chambray blue and it's so special. For a similar look for 1/2 the price I also own and love this blue marled flag sweater.
- A cheerful yellow sweater is key for Daffy weekend, but always looks right on the coast. I packed this classic cashmere cable knit and this easy crewneck. Both provide a happy pop of color for and I love it over a white buttondown and jeans, or thrown over your shoulders with a sundress.
- Every good travel wardrobe needs a classic navy cardiganand this one layers over absolutely everything. Toss it over sundresses, pair with white jeans, or drape over your shoulders at dinner.
- Fisherman-inspired stripes make this merino wool sweater a Nantucket essential. The ivory and blue combination looks beautiful with everything from denim to linen trousers on breezy coastal days.
- Always packing my cashmere getaway sweater for trips like this. The button detail at the neck is so chic, and it's the coziest layer for early morning coffee runs and breezy harbor walks.
Skirts & Pants
- These silk paisley pants with their sweet fringe hem are the kind of easy statement piece I love packing for vacation. Pair with a cream top and sandals for effortless evening style.
- Picture this breezy tiered cotton maxi skirt with a tucked-in tank and cashmere sweater over my shoulders for strolling around town. The lace inserts and pintuck details give it such lovely texture up close.
- Sunny yellow linen trousers feel so fresh for a New England summer. The belted waist and wide leg are incredibly flattering, and they look gorgeous with a crisp white top and espadrilles. (I ordered two sizes to try and went with the smaller size!)
- I packed this navy satin slip skirt because the lace trim hem makes it feel special enough for dinner but relaxed enough with a knit on top. It works year-round with a change of top and shoes!
- Agolde's 90s straight jeans have the perfect vintage wash and high-rise fit for wearing with everything from a blazer to a simple tank. (They don't bag out even after multiple days, a true workhorse for travel!!)
- Perpetually sold out for good reason, these Ayr jeans fit like they were made for you. The loose straight leg looks great with loafers now and sandals all summer. (Check the length guide before ordering, I have them in regular and tall for two different looks.)
- White jeans are a Nantucket essential, and this slim-wide pair from J.Crew has a flattering cut that works with heels for dinner or sneakers for daytime exploring. I sized up even though they're stretchy, as I don't like the look of skin tight white denim.
- Tailored yet relaxed, these off-white pleated shorts look polished enough for lunch at a nice restaurant. I love them with a tucked-in blouse and woven flats.
Jackets
- Rainy Nantucket mornings call for a classic trench coat, and this one has the most gorgoues cotton gabardine and fit! Layer over dresses, jeans, really anything. A forever piece.
- Barbour's off-white waxed jacket feels so right for coastal New England. The corduroy collar adds warmth, and the lighter color keeps it feeling summery even on drizzly days.
Bags
- Stripes and Nantucket go hand in hand, so this roomy canvas tote is coming on every beach and boat outing. Big enough for towels, sunscreen, and a good book.
- Ulla Johnson's woven leather shoulder bag is artisanal and eye-catching without being over the top. I love it with linen dresses and sandals for daytime, and it transitions beautifully into evening.
- Versatile and beautiful, this tan leather crossbody bag works as a top-handle or crossbody, making it ideal for exploring town hands-free. The gold toggle hardware is such a polished touch.
- There's something so charming about a wicker handbag on Nantucket. Mine is old Miu Miu, but this Prada version is gorgeous and will play the same role in your wardrobe.
- Handwoven and roomy, this basket tote is the kind of bag that goes from beach to town seamlessly. I love it with a linen dress and sandals for a day exploring Nantucket, or even with a chunky knit as seen here.
Shoes
- So charming for Nantucket, these nautical silk ties swap onto these leather sandals for an instant coastal update. The sailboat motif is such a fun, seasonal touch.
- A pop of red goes a long way, and these lambskin tie sandals look gorgeous with white denim, a navy dress, or really anything neutral. The Grecian silhouette never goes out of style.
- Indigo and ivory stripes on these espadrilles feel so right for coastal dressing.
- Coastal weekends practically demand a great boat shoe, and this refined blue pair has sneaker-level comfort with a much more polished look. Ideal with chinos, shorts, or rolled jeans. (I took my smaller, usual size.)
- Raffia slippers feel so perfectly New England to me, and this raffia pair from Stubbs & Wootton is incredibly chic with tailored trousers or even a casual linen dress.
- Elevated flat slides are a must for summer, and these woven leather Saint Laurent slides pair beautifully with everything from white jeans to a breezy midi dress.
- Navy striped linen on a block sandal feels tailor-made for Nantucket. The 60mm heel gives just enough lift for weddings, garden parties, or a nice dinner out without sacrificing comfort - plus they're great when nevigating cobblestones!
- Aquazzura's bestselling slingbacks in tan leather are one of those shoes that go with absolutely everything. Low enough to walk in all day, polished enough for evening.
- Buttery soft and barely there, these flip flops are the ones I throw on for quick errands, the beach, or padding around the house. A true summer essential in the most flattering nude.
- When you need a dressier option, these white block heel sandals with gold ring details are stunning. I'd wear them to a Nantucket dinner with a flowy dress and statement earrings. (On sale and only a few left!)
- Sperry's classic boat shoes are an all weather favorite whether you're planning a boat day or not!
Accessories
- I love reaching for this hand-painted cashmere silk scarf to throw over your shoulders on chilly evenings or looped around your neck for the ferry ride over. The sailboat illustrations are absolutely beautiful up close.
- Beetle Cat sailboats on a silk scarf make the sweetest nautical accessory. I plan to tie it around my ponytail, loop it on a basket bag, wear it as a belt, or wear it at the neck with a cashmere sweater.
- Oversized gold frames with tortoise temple tips make these sunglasses incredibly flattering. They look just as good on the boat as they do at brunch. A pair I reach for constantly.
Jewelry
- This emerald-cut necklace arrived right before my trip and I love it for its understated sparkle. Emerald cuts always look so much bigger than the same carat princess cut. Just gorgoues!
- How perfect is this basket charm for Nantucket? (I got this beautiful long chain.) The woven detail and functional little lid make it such a special conversation piece. I've already received so many compliments! I picked it out at Hart's new Nantucket store and its the perfect souvenir. (I got this insane blue opal necklace to wear with the basket as well - seen here.)
- I've been reaching for this green amethyst ring constantly. The soft green stone in a sculptural gold setting feels special enough for dinner but easy enough for every day.
- Sculptural yet understated, this gold pendant necklace has a water-inspired texture that feels so fitting for a coastal trip. Gorgeous alone or layered with a delicate chain.
- I'm always drawn to more statement pieces during the summer months, whether it's this bold, colorful, and playful silk collar necklace or this chic long shell pendant necklace
- This delicate gold rivière bracelet catches the light so beautifully. I love it stacked with a watch for daytime exploring or worn solo for a dressier Nantucket dinner.
- The sculptural shape of these gold knot earrings makes them an instant outfit elevator. I reach for them with everything from a linen dress to a casual striped tee and jeans, and they always feel a touch nautical.
- I always pack my everyday diamond studs. They go with literally everything and catch the light perfectly, from beach walks to evening drinks on the harbor.
