Everything I Packed for Palm Beach
To my mind, packing for a trip is half the fun, and this week in Florida was no exception. I pulled together a thoughtful mix of polished pieces for dinners in Palm Beach, easy staples for poolside afternoons, and versatile favorites that could carry me from shopping to sunset cocktails without missing a beat. Everything I packed fits neatly into my go-to travel setup: a L.L.Bean large tote (small enough to be my personal item - great for protecting my big straw tote), this rolling carry-on and this checked bag.
Whether you spotted something you loved on Instagram or are planning your own warm-weather getaway, I hope this list serves as both a helpful checklist and a source of fresh outfit ideas for the season ahead.
Dresses
- This orange cotton halter dress with its sweet lace trim is the perfect Palm Beach dinner dress. I'd pair it with gold sandals and statement earrings for a night on Worth Avenue.
- Nautical but make it chic. This indigo halter dress has a beautiful open back and pockets (always a win). Flat sandals and gold studs for daytime, heels and a clutch for evening.
- Romantic and breezy, this floral halter midi dress was made for warm weather evenings. I wore it to dinner with woven kitten heels and it got so many compliments. The print is even prettier in person!
- If you need one dress that goes from a business lunch to shopping on Worth Avenue, this ivory textured maxi dress is it. The button front and pocket details give it such a polished, put-together look.
- Green striped cotton with a fit-and-flare silhouette, this Margot dress is the daytime MVP of my suitcase. It has pockets, adjustable straps, and looks darling with flat sandals and a woven tote.
- Picture-perfect for a Florida afternoon, this floral-print linen-cotton midi dress has a stunning open back and corset bodice that feels special without trying too hard. Gorgeous with gold jewelry.
- Coco Shop never disappoints. This pink pineapple slip dress has a structured bodice that's so flattering, and the tropical print feels right at home in Florida. Add heeled sandals for a polished dinner look.
- I'm obsessed with the multicolor stripes on this belted linen midi dress. It was my go-to for shopping days on the island, paired with flat sandals and a straw tote.
- This scarf print dress is an easy warm weather style that can be dressed up or down. (The bodice is quite fitted, take your larger size.)
- Easily the most stunning dinner dress I packed, this silk-satin strapless maxi has the most gorgeous wave-inspired print. Pair with a statement necklace and heeled sandals for a Palm Beach evening out.
- Nothing says glamorous vacation like a gorgeous silk kaftan with a bold floral print. Perfect for your most elegant dinner reservation, or a spring wedding.
- Meet your new warm-weather go-to: this floral strapless midi dress with a smocked back that's incredibly comfortable. I wore it shopping with flats and to dinner with heels and statement earrings.
- The fringe hem on this white knit dress moves so beautifully in person. It's the kind of effortless piece that works for a sunset dinner with gold earrings and strappy sandals.
- This smocked dress is organic cotton (love!) and a little bit sheer making it a chic beach coverup. For more coverage try the black version which looks amazing with white accessories.
Jackets
- Every travel wardrobe needs a great trench coat and this classic khaki cotton one is my go-to. The first time I wore it I cut my hand without realizing it, and made a red streak right across the front, but it wiped away perfectly with just water and a cotton cloth. The best fabric!
Tops
- I love cashmere tees for this time of year which offer a little more polish and warmth than your basic t-shirt. I love wearing them on travel days, and with cute pants. I have this style in two colors, and love this one in canary yellow.
- A really good, simple white tee is a year-round essential. I love this one, paired with a pareo at the pool or thrown on with linen pants.
- How pretty is this pink plaid off-shoulder top? The draped silhouette feels effortlessly chic, and I love it with white shorts and strappy sandals.
- You can never have too many of these perfect white tanks, and this one lives up to its name. Wear it under blazers, tucked into skirts, or on its own with bright linen pants poolside.
- An elevated basic I wore constantly, this cotton-silk knit shell in heather sky looks polished with the matching cardigan tied around your shoulders.
- The linen version of Ann Mashburn's beloved Rosie in deep indigo is perfect for warm weather. I wore it buttoned up as a top with white shorts and gold sandals for a casual evening look.
- For tile print lovers, this structured canvas top is so chic for a Palm Beach shopping day. Pair with the matching mini skirt for a set or keep it casual with white jeans and sandals.
- An oversized Italian cotton button-down is my go-to travel piece. Throw it over a swimsuit, wear it with trousers for dinner, or pair with shorts for exploring. (Size down if you prefer a more tailored fit!)
- This tuxedo-style shirt is so chic over white shorts. I love that the body is opaque but the sleeves are sheer.
Bottoms
- These tropical printed silk wide-leg pants were made for vacation. I wore them over my swimsuit with sandals for an easy lunch look that felt pulled together.
- The bold floral print on these silk wide-leg pants brought me so much joy to wear. Let the hems trail over sandals and keep the top simple with a white tank or cami.
- Dinner dressing made easy: this sage taffeta wrap skirt with the two-tone tie is so elegant paired with a silk camisole and heeled sandals. The column silhouette is incredibly flattering.
- I threw on these green block print pants with a white tank and sandals for an effortless resort look. The retro print feels so Palm Beach, and the cropped hem is perfectly flattering.
- Tailored white pleated shorts are a Palm Beach essential, and these have the most flattering high-rise cut. I paired them with everything from silk blouses to simple tanks all week.
- This multicolor striped sequin maxi skirt is a showstopper for evening. I paired it with a simple white tank and gold sandals, and the subtle shimmer caught the light beautifully at dinner.
- This mini skirt is so effortless! The slight A-line is incredibly flattering, and the canvas fabric holds its shape all day. Perfect for lunch at The Colony with an oversized white shirt.
Swim & Coverups
- Nothing says poolside chic like a butter yellow one piece. The scrunch fabric is so flattering, and the thick straps give great support. Loved it with a pareo and straw hat.
- Lightweight and effortlessly chic, this striped cotton pareo was my favorite pool coverup.
- You can't go wrong with a classic cotton tunic in the prettiest pale blue. I wore mine over a swimsuit at the pool and then straight to lunch with white jeans and sandals.
Shoes
- I love the cheerful multicolor straps on these sandals and these crochet flats from the Margaux x Julia B. collab. If you love them move fast, they're starting to sell out!
- Handwoven in Italy, these saddle-colored ballet flats were my most-worn shoe of the trip. Perfect with dresses, shorts, and pants, plus the arch support means they're genuinely comfortable all day long. They are also an amazing travel shoe!
- These handcrafted leather sandals with the gold toe ring detail are endlessly elegant. I wore them with dresses, linen pants, and shorts all week long.
- These white wedge heels are so flattering on the foot and surprisingly comfortable.
- I love how these leopard mesh slingback kitten heels add a little something unexpected to a simple dress. Sophisticated enough for a Palm Beach dinner, comfortable enough to actually enjoy it.
- Gold wrap sandals are a great multipurpose vacation shoe. They look gorgeous with everything from maxi dresses to tailored shorts for a Palm Beach evening.
- These raffia kitten heel slides are the sweetest shoe for warm weather. The checked pattern adds subtle interest, and the walkable heel dresses up even the simplest outfit.
- For dressier Palm Beach dinners, these tan leather heeled sandals are my pick. The arch support and extra padding mean you can actually walk to dinner and back comfortably. A must for me!
Bags
- So charming for vacation, this blue floral beaded bag adds the sweetest finishing touch to a simple white dress or linen set. The tassel detail and braided strap make it feel really special.
- A splurge-worthy top handle bag in white leather with the iconic bamboo handle. I loved carrying this to dinner and got so many compliments. It's a forever piece.
- Raffia season is here and this playful tote is the perfect pool-to-lunch bag. It holds everything you need for a beach day and looks adorable with a sundress or coverup.
- Worth every penny, this woven leather clutch is always chic tucked under your arm.
- The wicker handbag I'm wearing above is old from Miu Miu, but you can find their new season version here.
- At under $40, this straw crochet tote from Target is a great beach bag find. Roomy enough for towels and sunscreen, and I don't worry about it getting sandy.
- Splurgy but so special, this rattan pouch is the kind of piece that elevates every outfit. This bag gives you the same look for a fraction of the price.
- I just found my big straw tote for an amazing price. It's honestly a little impractical, but I love it.
Accessories
- A great pair of sunglasses is essential in Florida, and these oversized gold frames are so flattering. I wore them with practically every outfit, from poolside to dinner.
- A close runner up, these tortoise sunnies add a cool factor to your look.
- So sweet and packable, this crocheted bucket hat in ecru adds a chic finishing touch to any poolside look. I love it with a one piece and a pareo, or sundress as seen here.
- My most-packed hat is this straw hat that provides serious sun protection while looking incredibly chic. It's my beach and pool essential every single trip.
- The nautical print on this cashmere-silk scarf is absolutely gorgeous. I wore it as a wrap on breezy evenings, and as a scarf on travel days.
Jewelry
- Handcrafted brass shell studs with Swarovski crystals that catch the light beautifully. They're the perfect vacation earring because they go with literally everything, from sundresses to a dinner look.
- The delicate sparkle of this tennis bracelet is unreal for the price point. I stacked it with my watch and it works with every outfit.
- Every woman needs a pair of classic diamond studs in her jewelry rotation. These lab diamond ones are gorgeous, and I wore them from the pool to dinner without a second thought (I have the 4-ct size.)
- For a polished gold earring that works day and night, these knot earrings are my absolute favorite. Sculptural enough to feel like a statement but easy enough for every single day. (These give a similar look for less.)
- I've been reaching for this green amethyst cocktail ring nonstop. The stone catches the light beautifully, and it's insanely comfortable for being so chunky. I forget I'm even wearing it!
- Sculptural gold swirls and stacked freshwater pearls make these statement earrings my go-to for dressier looks.
- The shell and stone details on this statement necklace are so cool for vacation. I paired it with a simple strapless dress and let it do all the talking at dinner.
- For a pop of color with dinner outfits, these green and wood drop earrings are just the thing. They look stunning with a simple white dress or a solid-colored top and add instant personality.
- This gold rope bracelet looks so expensive. I love the subtle nautical flair it gives everything from sweaters to sundresses, and the price point is amazing.
- David gave me this chunky green pendant for Valentine's Day and I love the sparkle it adds to any neckline. (I have it in green amethyst, but you can personalize with the birthstone most meaningful to you!)
