Thanksgiving Things

Thanksgiving has become one of my favorite holidays to prepare for. I have hosted for the past four years, and even though we will be celebrating at my parents’ house this year, I still love gathering beautiful pieces that make the season feel special. From the tabletop treasures I reach for every November to new styles that are inspiring me right now, I’m sharing my favorite finds for creating a warm and welcoming table. And because I will still be setting plenty of pretty tables for dinner parties throughout the festive season, I am also including a range of outfit ideas from casual and cozy to more polished options so you can feel perfectly dressed for every celebration.

  • I bought this insanely beautiful tablecloth after seeing it at a friend's house last week. You can preorder one or get the look for less with this tablecloth and these napkins. These fabulous tumblers would be a perfect match in burgundy or ochre and are currently on sale!
  • If you're a guest this Thanksgiving, consider bringing a bottle of your favorite wine, aperitivo, or olive oil in this cute reusable wine carrier.
  • If jeans and a sweater are your Thanksgiving uniform pick a top with a little interest, whether you go for a cardigan with embellished buttons, a cozy fair isle in burgundy or green (it's roomy, size down), or the beautiful textured brown cardigan I'm wearing above.
  • The hostess with the mostess (and a sense of humor) should preside over her feast in this silky dress and this cornucopia crown.
  • It's soup season and my dutch oven gets loads of use. I chose Staub over Le Creuset for the deep luster of its glaze, which is pretty enough to go from stove to your table. (Also love the green version!)
  • This hand cream is my winter secret weapon. Keep one in your purse, one in your nightstand, and bring one as a hostess gift to ensure you're invited back!
  • I like to dress up for thanksgiving dinner, and if you have a colorful table, sometimes it's nice to wear a solid color that complements your spread. A few favorite dresses under $300 that fit the bill include this, this and this! I also love this everygreen lace dress. I saw a pregnant friend wearing it and it's so cute with or without a bump!
  • When we have guests I love putting out little nibbles in pretty bowls, whether it's a silver nut server, or a pair of these chic little snack bowls, or this silver trio that works for everything from cocktail sauce to olives on the bar. I like to make a batch of these spiced bar nuts to fill them. (From a favorite NYC restaurant!)
  • Jacquard trousers are an evening favorite throughout the winter months, and this beautiful paisley pair caught my eye. Pair with a big cashmere turtleneck in a complementary color, and these gorgeous patent red pumps (on sale!) for an easy yet festive look!
  • These plaid tins are crazy cute and the perfect size for packing up a pie. I bought a couple to use as gift tins, just fill with your favorite treat and tie with a big satin bow.
  • I love the harvest hues in this tartan cashmere scarf. The price is amazing, I just ordered it as a gift, but might need one myself!
  • Whether you're helping cook up a feast or cozied up on the couch watching football, a comfy lounge set (seen below), cozy wrap cardigan, and shearling slippers are the perfect Thanksgiving weekend look.
  • Ochre hues are especially lovely this time of year. I just got this gorgeous vase that's currently filled with dry hydrangeas and sitting on my dresser, but there are so many ways to incorporate this warm color from a statement silk blouse, to vintage knife rests (similar to mine below!) to a handsome suede clutch.
  • Throw on a statement coat like this or the jacquard jacket I'm wearing below to add instant festive flair to your outfit.
  • I just bought this large silver bowl, and can't decide if I'll fill it with paperwhite bulbs or vintage ornaments. The possibilities are endless!
  • Don a dress with ruching at the waist to hide a full tummy, I just got this one and LOVE it, and the pretty pattern on this one is extra flattering. I also love this dress and heels for a minimalist look.
  • I use these gold hurricanes year-round. They're usually on our living room mantle, but I love bringing them to the dinner table for special soirees. Pricey, but one of my favorite pieces of decor in our home.
  • This olive velvet jacket and matching trousers are such a chic look for Thanksgiving dinner or any holiday party on your calendar.
  • Brown spongeware is a handsome and homey option for Thanksgiving and the winter months. I have a bunch of plates (seen below) and also love the idea of mixing it with these brown bird plates to create a gorgeous neutral table for a crowd.
