POSITANO

Travel Guide

Positano is a stunning town built on the rolling mountainside off the coast of the Amalfi Coast of Italy. It is dotted with hundreds of brightly colored buildings that welcome you in as you see the approach, whether through the winding seaside roads or from the ferry from one of the other islands or from Naples. Positano holds a special spot in our hearts because it is where we had our honeymoon at the famous La Sirenuse hotel in Positano.

Some of my favorite things to do in Positano are to take it easy and enjoy the view from within your hotel or try one of the many fine dining options. It’s quite a hike to get down to the water, but if you can make it, the rocky beach meets the beautiful Mediterranean waters and can be quite enjoyable. One of my favorite getaways from Positano is to get on a boat and tour the Amalfi Coast by water, and there are several ways to do it, ranging from public ferry rides to a free boat ride and transport to one of my favorite beach clubs, Da Adolfo. Some hotels even give you a free boat ride on their hotel boat, like La Sirenuse, or you can charter a private hire down at the beach area.

Since Positano is nestled on such a steep mountainside, I highly recommend bringing your luggage up by using a porter. The prices are pretty reasonable, and it’s definitely worth paying to bring your luggage up, at least on the way up, if not on the way down as well.
