The Jeans of the Moment (and How to Style Them)
I packed three pairs of jeans for my weekend trip to NYC and ended up reaching for this one pair everyday because they're just so good. Denim silhouettes are constantly changing, and if you've considered wearing a wide-leg style but feel like the baggy trends aren't for you these jeans are it! They're a polished wardrobe staple that not only fits into your aspirational life (A city getaway to New York! Or Paris!) but you can also wear them to pick up your kids from school, or meet friends for coffee in your normal, everyday life and look completely fabulous. They also look great on women of any age, from 25 to 75. I'm betting they're unlike anything else you already have in your wardrobe, so I thought it was worth dedicating a post to them, especially since they're 25% off right now!
Frame gifted me this pair, but didn't ask for special coverage, I'm just really in love with the cut and think you'll love them too! They're called "The Refined" which is the perfect name as they feel a touch more elevated than the rest of my denim. The patch pockets slim your hips and there isn't a visible hem stitch which gives them a bit more polish. Plus, I love that the leg is straight enough that they don't pull or bag out at the knee after several days of wear. (Making them great for travel!) When you do wash them I recommend hanging to dry to maintain their crisp look.
Here are two styling tips for making these work in countless outfits, plus a bunch of tops and shoes that pair beautifully in the carousel and photos below.
Styling tip 1 - Tuck in your top to show off the pockets
Sure, I'm a millennial so I'm prone to front-tucking many of my shirts and sweaters, but it's helpful here so you can show off the pockets. I love these jeans with a sweater(seen here and on sale!) or crisp button-down shirt like this (seen here) or this (seen here). Or you can wear with a sweet polo like I did here, and I love the color and cut of this as well! It's just key that the top hits at the hip bone if you don't want to tuck.
Styling Tip 2 - Pair with pointed toe shoes
Whether you opt for flats, mary janes or booties, a pointed toe is key to pulling off wide-legged pants, elongating your figure and balancing the volume of the pant leg. Of course you don't have to wear pointed toe shoes, but I'm just giving a foolproof outfit formula that will work for everyone so give it a try and experiment from there. I've been reaching for these burgundy flats a bunch, but mine are almost sold out so I found these which are very similar and a much better price).
Other Frame favorites if you're shopping the sale:
Le Sleek Straight - OK wait, my most-worn jeans are on major sale and under $100!?! I'm wearing them in a cafe now as I write, and will be buying a second pair. They're just so good! They are super stretchy without looking like it for an insanely comfortable fit, and have the perfect straight leg cut for pairing with my favorite booties. (Scroll through this page for the 30+ daily looks I've published featuring these jeans.) They truly are a favorite and work with everything from loafers to bean boots and more!
The Arrow - I have these full-length bootcut jeans in black and they're a fantastic fall/winter pant. A nice high-waisted silhouette great for tucking in tops with a belt, and a longer inseam that pairs beautifully with booties. (They're long so I can wear a bit of a heel.) Again, they have a lot of stretch and are really comfortable without looking like they're made of stretch denim. So good!
Le Slim Palazzo - I wore these relaxed, wide-legged jeans a lot this summer, but I feel like they work best with flat sandals and probably won't wear them in fall/winter as I don't think they work as well with boots. However, I still love them and am excited to wear them again next year so mentioning in case you've had your eye on them!
