Shimmering Holiday Styles

There’s something magical about sequins under candlelight — the way they catch a flicker and turn an ordinary evening into a celebration. For my birthday dinner at New York’s iconic Monkey Bar, I chose an olive sequined top paired with sleek black trousers — a look that felt festive yet refined. With the holiday season in full swing, it’s the perfect time to embrace a little shimmer. Below, I’ve rounded up the best new sequined and sparkly styles to light up every soirée on your calendar.

  • I wore this chartreuse top (also comes in black) for my birthday dinnerand it's just perfect. I love the color, a bit of sparkle and super flattering drape. (Plus it's from a smaller brand that I don't see everywhere - yet!) I can't lie, it requires advanced ironing skills to press, but I think most people would just have the dry cleaner take care of it. Though it can be done at home! I balanced the drama with simple tailored jacquard pants and my favorite walk-all-day suede pumps. (I've had those pants for years and reach for them all the time.)
  • A black sequined cardigan works like a LBD - just the thing for a wide array of occasions and you can completely change your look depending on your pants or skirt. I bought this cardigan on sale (seen here) and honestly you should too. It looks amazing on women of any age and is beautifully made of 100% wool that's not too thin and not too thick. I love their new season version as well, but think the sale version is a touch more versatile (and a fraction of the price!)
  • Tuckernuck really shines when it comes to occasion dressing and they just gifted me two incredible dresses well worth considering. This black velvet dress with embellished bow ties is beautiful and looks like a $3,000 designer dress. (By Emilia Wickstead, specifically.) It is a straight, column cut, so likely best on boyish figures, but if you have a bigger bust and narrow hips I believe it could work for you. Same sizing guidelines apply to this sequined number, which is an almost identical cut. Once people catch the bug to shop for holiday parties I expect these will go very quickly.
  • I just love these embellished slingback flats for when I host dinner parties at home. They look fabulous, will hide unpedicured toes, and have the tiniest heels so you can run around looking after your guests. They also make any black dress feel festive, though I especially like them with this velvet number.
  • A sequined top + wide-legged pant combo is an unexpected take on holiday dressing.
  • This opulent beaded bag is the perfect holiday party +1. (I also love this beaded evening bag for something more demure.)
  • Pair this amethyst sequin mini dress with these bronze heels for an evening of dancing!
  • This flirty sequin top (30% off through midnight!) is a sweet option that would look great with jeans or trousers. (Also love the matching pants, but wouldn't wear them together.)
  • Perhaps a silly amount to spend on a bow, but I can see it in your hair, pinned to a dress or sweater, or on the label of your coat! Similarly this bee clip can be worn in countless ways!
  • Monochromatic looks will always be one of my favorite shortcuts to an elegant outfit, and this beaded sweater + slip skirt combo will work all winter long. For a more wallet-friendly take, consider this silk bow blouse with this pencil skirt. (I love the subtle difference between those colors!)
  • These fabulous red shoes are a bit tall for me, but if you can do 100mm heels go for it!
  • Wearing a sequin pencil skirt in a striking hue with an over-the-top bow blouse is a party-worthy pairing. Plus, you can style each piece several ways throughout the season, wearing the top with slacks, or the skirt with a big cashmere sweater and boots. Also love this gold pencil skirt and this ruby red number.
  • This little black dress looks chic with strappy heels, or you can layer it with a slim turtleneck, sheer black tights and pumps for added warmth.
  • I bought a few pieces from TWP over the summer and love their classic silhouettes - with a twist! This chocolate brown top is a favorite from their fall collection, I'd wear with black trousers or a pencil skirt and black pumps. Also, if you have a glam event on the calendar this gown is on major sale!
  • This is such a dream of a dress, and would be perfect with these metallic lamé heels!
  • It's a skirt. It's a dress. It's a top! This sequined set gives you endless holiday outfit options.
  • Every year, Sarah Flint launches unique sequined styles inspired by a great work of art. This year's design is inspired by Botticelli's Birth of Venus, to spectacular effect. Find her limited edition heels here and flats here.
